While American football is noted for the incredibly racist team names, I feel like we don't talk about basketball and baseball's... interesting names.

Imagine my surprise when instead of seeing cubs at a Cubs game, a bunch if bears came out :brbdying:

Now I'm Australian and I watch a fair bit of American sports (besides NFL) but normally team names/nicknames are given to strike fear into the hearts of the enemies. But when the New Orleans Hornets changed to the Pelicans I just cringed. :TzuyuKek:

Meanwhile every team in the UK is just "insert city/town here" united/FC. I'd take cringe animals for a change honestly.

I've never thought of how it is lilkely because our cities overlap so much? Like how almost every state has a "Springfield."

Manchester Marsupials sounds good to me :pandasantathink:

The Hornets were from Charlotte. They moved the franchise to New Orleans. So, the name change makes sense as it's more regional, and they were looking for their own identity.

Compare that to the New Orleans Jazz that moved to Utah... and the kept the name Jazz XD

As a Floridian, I am shocked and appalled :brbdying:

I'm still not crazy about how they did it. It just looks so stagnant.

Jazz in Utah? 😭
