Hallyuplus' Idol Of The Month sponsored by Fish Market for March is ...
PS: the Fish Market thread is now accepting applications for April's Idol of the Month!
YAMAMOTO AYAKA
(aka Aayan)
Ayaka is an 18-year old former member of NMB48, graduating from the group last month to pursue a career as a nurse.
Ayaka was the winner in a hard-fought contest for idol of the month, beating fellow ex-NMB48 member Yamamoto Sayaka to win not only idol of the month but also claim superiority among *yaka Yamamotos.
About Aayan:
Ayaka is competitive and puts her all into everything she does. Whether it's being an idol, studying, doing bonsai or participating in BBQ live streams there are no half-measures.
As a 15-year old she decided she wanted to learn about bonsai, so she got bonsai masters to teach her. She's kept it up since and has appeared on bonsai magazines, TV shows and in exhibitions
When Ayaka was young(er) she had no interest in idols but she was convinced by her older sister to audition for NMB and joined the group at age 13 in mid 2016. Despite having no singing or dancing experience she didn't want to lose to anyone and it was quickly apparent that NMB had a special talent on their hands. At age 14 she became the youngest NMB member to be selected for a single, the fastest to be promoted to full membership and was chosen as center on the music show Best Hits Kayousai.

Aayan was given an extremely prominent position for her first single, Boku Igai No Dareka
But there was a dark side to her rise. The sudden push created animosity and Aayan faced a lot of hate as fans of other members took out their discontent on her. Management shifted their focus to more established members but thanks to her hard work Aayan slowly won back the naysayers becoming an integral part of the group.
The culmination of her time in NMB came when she was chosen to center her first single, Datte Datte Datte last year:
Now a key member of the group it came as a shock to everyone back in December when she announced that she would leave the group. The pandemic had made her determined to become a nurse to follow in the footsteps of her mother and sister. Knowing her, her patients will be in safe hands.
Congratulations to her and good luck in the future!
