Vicky and Jane, the two semi-confirmed members, introduced themselves under that name when the appeared on Idol Producer (hence why I say semi-confirmed, if they weren't locked in, they'd have likely been introduced as YG trainees). So it is probably confirmed. That said, it's also the name Blackpink had prior to their debut. So it might change, who knows.

I don't think it's an awful name. I remember the same said about Red Velvet, (G)-idle and Iz*one just off the top of my head. I've read it said about SNSD when the name was announced in 2007. And of course, more recently aespa. You'd be surprised how quickly we begin to accept and normalise the names one the group actually debuts and we get more used to them and their name. I've also heard it shortened to BaeMon which I think is kind of cute
