Reason being, I lived by myself, it makes one downright scared of conversations and people.

If I am in conversation with someone, I listen and respond to what they say so I expect them to do the same. If someone ignored me, it rubs me the wrong way and I know I won't be close with that person.

Well, no one likes being interrupted or ignored. But yeah. It’s also hard for me to jump into a conversation or even get one going unless I’m friends with them. And getting interrupted or ignored does hurt cause it feels like they don’t care about my efforts
