The 1st doses of Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine candidate have been flown over 2 the U.S. from Belgium.

United commenced chartering flights 2 send doses of the vaccine 2 the U.S. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) also confirmed that it was "supporting the 1st mass air shipment of a vaccine."

The FAA is allowing United 2 carry 15k pounds of dry ice per flight, which is 5 times over the permitted limit.

Pfizer's vaccine candidate is developed in partnership with the German biotechnology company BioNTech, & last week, Pfizer applied 4 emergency use authorization (EUA) with the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). The vaccine will be distributed once it is approved.

The United Kingdom is slated 2 approve Pfizer's vaccine as early as next week.
