Still, no matter. It was the performance that mattered.
The cheerful vibes of Lullaby faded out, making way for the next song. The song Jinyoung had been waiting for for the entire concert, and his heart jumped into his stomach at the thought. He would do this perfectly. He wouldn’t fail her.
As the lights in the room dimmed, the applause got louder. Jinyoung scrambled to find his place on the stage in the dark, bumping into someone (Mark, he presumed) as he got into position.
The concert hall became quiet - or at least as quiet as a room of thousands of people could get.
And then it started. The familiar muffled synth and 808 drums of Hard Carry started around the room as lights and smoke covered the stage. The crowd went wilder than ever. A truly iconic bop.
This is Aqua’s song, Jinyoung thought to himself as his beloved’s face flashed in his mind. It represented her completely, but on this day the way she had hard carried House Targaryen in the Hall of Faces game came to him the strongest. Like the ocean carries a ship, she had carried her team to victory, gaining the Fire Fam a chance at winning the Iron Throne.
As the song played, Jinyoung tried to force himself to leave his daydream and focus on his performance, but thoughts of Aqua’s dark hair and luring eyes kept distracting him.
He didn’t know whether it was sheer luck, muscle memory or a combination of both that got him through the song without mistakes, but he performed it perfectly. And although he couldn’t publicly say it, he hoped she would one day see his performance and realize that it was all for her.
