I dreaded going back to work tomorrow because I don't like to reach home around 8pm. It got me stress out that I automatically grab my bag and went to my room to pack up my clothes so that I can stay inside the office and work until the weekend.

Well I'm sure you have a right to work from home if you believe you don't feel safe to work at the premises

If your company is flexible and can offer you the possibility of working from home, I can't see why not; especially since you enjoy it. Not sure where you live but I think a lot of countries advise working from home until further notice too.
I don't know your country.. but the offices that opened here are still letting their employees work from home.
