MONDAY:
#1- Woolim started the day by teasing their new girl group Rocket Punch! Among the members introduced in their first concept film, Produce 48's
viewers recognized Kim Suyun, Kim Sohee and ex-AKB48's member Takahashi Juri. They opened their official SNS accounts not long after!
#2- Produce X 101's group XI's official debut was announced for August 27! The members also unanimously decided that Han Seungwoo
would become their leader.
Let's anticipate the two groups' debut!
#3- While new groups are forming, others are disbanding - and it is time to say goodbye to Camila. The three girls are going on separate ways after
promoting together for a year.
#4- In the afternoon, CUBE posted an announcement stating that Yanan would not take part in Pentagon's 2019 World Tour due to health issues.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
#5- The "Song Song couple" is officially no more: Song Hye Kyo's agency confirmed that her divorce from Song Joong Ki was finalized on Monday morning. Her
now ex-husband was the one to call it quit after only 21 months of marriage. The actress removed all their pictures together from her Instagram.
TUESDAY:
#1- Another day, another disbandment: this time, it's SHA SHA's turn to part ways after being unable to reach any agreement on their concept
and various artistic decisions with their agency. The news dropped on the group's Fancafé.
#2- In better news, Celeb Five will release a new single at the end of August! Will comediennes Kim Shin Young, Shin Bong Sun, Song Euni and
Ahn Young Mi become Kpop's new summer queens? We can't wait to find out!
#3- MTV announced nominations for their 2019's Video Music Awards ceremony, and the challengers for the "Best Kpop" trophy are Blackpink, BTS, EXO,
MONSTA X, NCT127 and TXT! Competition will be fierce!
#4- On the same day, M2 X Genie Music Awards's lineup was revealed - it includes Kim Jaehwan, Mamamoo, WJSN, Chungha, TXT, Pentagon,
Paul Kim, AB6IX, DAY6, ITZY, Twice, BVNDIT, Nature, Verivery and IZ*ONE!
WEDNESDAY:
#1- On Wednesday, Starship announced that their new boy group would debut in early 2020! Fans now wonder who the members will be, as they
discovered 6 of the company's trainees this year on Produce X 101 - including Kang Minhee and Song Hyeongjun, who are now part of X1.
#2- After days and days of a building controversy, MNET finally addressed suspicions over Produce X 101's final voting results: after apologizing for their
"mistake" in compiling them, they explained the announced ranking is legitimate and the group's lineup won't be changed. Police announced investigation
on Saturday.
#3- PX101 was definitely the talk of the town on that day. BY9, a group made of top 20's eliminated trainees, is rumored to debut under CJ and
Jellyfish's management. Without making any confirmation, Jellyfish revealed they would "look into the report", and the two agency will discuss plans.
#4- YG's Treasure Boys winners are sadly not as lucky as Produce's contestants: Treasure 13's debut, that was announced for July, has been put on hold.
Yang Hyun Suk's departure from the agency is the direct cause of their activities' cancellation.
THURSDAY:
#1- Let's start with good news: DJ and producer Raiden has joined SM Entertainment, and will drop a single on August 2nd, featuring Red Velvet's Irene!
Ateez was revealed to have signed with RCA Records, and will seek American recognition with the support of the label.
Last but not least, Jpop singer Ruann will make her debut in Korea very soon - she will release her first Korean digital single on July 31.
Congratulations and good luck to all of them!
#2- BAP's Bang Yong Guk announced that his enlistment in the military is planned for August 1. Before leaving, he will release a single entitled "Orange Drive".
#3- Big Bang's Daesung is in trouble: it was reported that illegal activities (including prostitution) is talking place in a building he bought in 2017.
While Daesung sweared he wasn't aware of it, the other party declared that there is no way for him to claim ignorance.
FRIDAY:
#1- Blackpink announced the release of their new Japanese album in September! Unfortunately, it won't contain any new track. 10 songs will be
featured, all from their "Kill this love" mini-album - both Korean and Japanese versions.
- #2 - UP10TION is currently preparing for a comeback in August! TOP MEDIA shared that Kim Wooseok and Lee Jinhyuk wouldn't participate, as the first one
is now a member of X1 and the second is resting after Produce X101.
SATURDAY:
Saturday was a calm day for the entertainment industry. No comeback, no debut, no disbandment, no one allegedly breaking the law... a miracle!
SUNDAY:
#1 - Nice surprise for EXO-Ls: Xiumin attended the group's concert in Seoul today, which obviously made the members and fans overjoyed, and gave
us precious videos! A reminder that he enlisted on May 7, 2019 and will discharge in 19 months, on December 6, 2020.
#1- NCT DREAM - BOOM
The youngest members of NCT are back and dropped their newest song "BOOM" on Friday! Almost 11 months after the release of "We Go Up", the
boys - without Mark, who graduated at the end of 2018 - show once more that cute concepts are a thing of the past. SM described the song as being
a "minimalist urban pop" track, so if you like the genre, you should definitely give it a try!
#2- MAMAMOO - GLEAM
Mamamoo loves surprising Moomoos! "Gleam" was only announced the day before its release, and there is no doubt fans were delighted when they
listened to it for the first time. The song is everything you need for summer - no one would guess it was only made to advertise glasses if it wasn't
for its music video!
#3- KANG DANIEL - WHAT ARE YOU UP TO
After months of legal battle with this former agency, Kang Daniel finally debuted as a solo artist! "Color on me" was released on Thursday and its title track,
"What are you up to", perfectly showcases his smooth voice over simple but catchy instrumentals. Make sure you watch its music video below!
#4- MENG MEIQI & JUSTIN - DON'T WAIT ANYMORE
WJSN's MeiQi and Nine Percent's Justin teamed up and record "Don't wait anymore"! The song, which is an OST for the movie "Step Up: Year of the dance",
dropped on Tuesday. Meiqi's clear voice and Justin's rap definitely make a good combination, so we advise you to give the song a listen!
#5- CIX - MOVIE STAR
C9's new group CIX released their first EP "Hello - Chapter 1 Hello, Stranger" on Tuesday! Wanna one's fans were especially anticipating Bae Jinyoung's
debut in a new group and gained four other new talented boys to stan in the process. Their title track "Movie Star" didn't disappoint and is full of promises
for the group's future. Check it out now!
#6- SHIN YOUNME - NIGHTS WITHOUT YOU
What would be ICYMI's recommendations without a good ballad to add to your playlist? This week's one was brought to us by Shin Younme on Wednesday
and if you are a fan of the genre, your ears will definitely be blessed. Many of you will recognize Younme as Produce's vocal teacher, but she is also a solo
artist and her songs, including "Night without you", definitely deserve recognition!
#7- WOOSUNG - FACE
Woosung, who is a member of The Rose, debuted as a solo artist on Thursday with this first mini album, "Wolf". The promoted track, "Face", comes with
a message of acceptation, tolerance and respect and is a diss to beauty standards. An addictive song, a positive message, heavenly vocals and an aesthetically
pleasing music video, Woosung made it all happen!
#8- MIYAVI - UNDER THE SAME SKY
Miyavi is back! The Japanese singer-songwriter and guitarist released his new album "No sleep till Tokyo" and its title track "Under the same sky" on Wednesday.
If you like pop-rock songs that can uplift your mood and make you sing along again and again, then you will want to add this one to your music library!
#9- BEWHY - GOTTASADAE
BewhY is back with another banger! The winner of Show Me The Money 5 dropped "Gottasadae" on Thursday, with the rest of his album entitled "Movie Star".
He wrote, composed and arranged all songs and chose a very interesting concept for its title track's music video. It's time for you to check it out!
#10- TAEMIN - FAMOUS
After the release of "Want" in Korea at the beginning of the year, it's time for Taemin to bless us all with a new Japanese album, which is scheduled
for August 4. To help us wait, he dropped the title track "Famous" on Saturday - and with its funky but sexy vibes, perfect choreography and incredible
aesthetics, the song is a perfect addition to his recent discography!
There were so many releases this week and we couldn't feature as many songs as we wanted to - so here is a special mention to EXO-SC's "What a Life",
