PART 9 OPTIONS
It had officially been over 2 months since you first started hanging out with Eden. The two of you continued to get closer, but the closer you got, the more your crush on her grew. Maybe it was time for you to actually do something about it? Or maybe that would just ruin things and she'd think the only reason you bothered getting close to her was to get in her pants...
This was a debate you kept having with yourself, and it probably would have kept up ad nauseam if you hadn't heard kids at your school talking about an upcoming firework festival. You finally made a decision, you'd invite her out to the festival together. If all went well, you'd confess your feelings for her, if not, you'd just let things continue as they currently were. You were sure that with enough time, you'd be able to get over your feelings for her anyway and be happy with just remaining friends.
Well, that was the plan, but you were a coward and kept putting off inviting her...However, the festival was next week, so it was now or never. Sitting in your room with her, you decide to finally bite the bullet. Trying to sound casual, you ask, "So, you know there's going to be a festival next week?"
Eden glances up from her spot on the floor, where she'd been petting away at one of your cats. "Hmm? Ah, yes, I've heard."
"Well, are you planning on going?" Your whole plan would be for naught if it turned out that she was already planning on going with her family.
She shrugs, "I wasn't planning on it. I usually attend such festivals with my family, but my parents are too busy and my older brother is away at college."
Relieved, you suck in a deep breath, you steel yourself to ask the question you'd been thinking of all day. "In that case, would you, ah, like to go with me?"
She raises a brow, "You wanna go to the firework festival together? What, like a date?" It's obvious from the smirk and playful tone that she's teasing you, and you will your face to remain its normal shade. You can't help but wonder whether she already knows you like her...in which case, there's no point in pretending otherwise.
You
1. Deny it
2. Say she can think of it like that
3. Ask her if she wants it to be one
~~~~~~~~~~
The next day at school, you ask Alex to come over to your house for dinner. Surprisingly enough, he agrees, You were expecting more of a struggle, given that he turned the offer down every other time...but maybe the thing with his mom had simply worn down his defenses. That was rather depressing tot think about, but still, you were glad he accepted.
Before he showed up, you made sure to stress to your parents that it was vital this dinner went well. Not only did you want him to feel comfortable staying over at your house, but there was also something you wanted to ask him, so needless to say, you were very worried about how this would go.
When he shows up, posture stiff and clearly nervous, you force a smile and try to hide your own nerves. "You came!"
He shrugs, "Did you think I wouldn't?" Honestly, there was a small part of you that thought he might bail out at the last minute...You don't say that out loud, but your silence makes it obvious what you're thinking. He rolls his eyes before asking, "Um, so, should I have bought like, flowers or something?"
"Huh? No, that's not necessary. This is just a casual dinner with a friend! It's not like you're taking me out on a date or anything." Your face heats up slightly at the idea of going on a date with him, and Alex himself looks away awkwardly.
Thankfully, your sister chooses that moment to run over to the two of you, grabbing Alex's hand and dragging him to the kitchen. Alex is quiet during the dinner, only speaking when spoken to, which isn't surprising. But your, bless their hearts, keep trying to make conversation with him. Somehow the topic of the piano comes up, and Alex looks uncomfortable, probably thinking about what happened with his mom yesterday.
You decide to
1. Bring up your first encounter with him in the music room at school
2. Talk about his drawing lessons with your sister
3. Divert the conversation away from him
@Events Squad you have until 10PM EST on the 13th~
I'm in the same boat as you though. I haven't been able to participate in most of the events so I don't have many love coins so i'm just saving all of mine for cards.
Also at this point I don't even think I like Alex enough to even care about winning him over
PART 9
Eden
Looking away, you decide to deny it. "N-no, of course not. Just as friends." -5 points
Maybe it's your imagination, but you think you see a flicker of disappointment on her face, but it's gone before you even register it properly. "Right, of course." Brushing her clothes off, she stands up, makes her way to the door, and says, "Well, I'll be on my way now."
It's only when she's gone that you realize she never agreed to going to the festival with you.
````````````````````````````````````
Deciding to be a little bit bold and coy, you say, "Well, it can be if you want it to be." +10 points
Huffing, she brushes a stray lock of hair out of her eyes. "I didn't say anything of the sort." Tilting her head to the side, she stares at you for a bit, expression thoughtful. Letting out a hum, she smiles and says, "Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to accompany you."
Standing up, she brushes off her clothes, looking awfully pleased with herself as she clasps her hands behind her back, rocking on the heels of her feet. "Just so you know, I like to arrive early. If you're not there, don't expect me to stick around waiting for you. My time is valuable, after all."
Uuuh, feeling a bit flustered and overwhelmed, all you can do is stare at her. Raising a brow at you, she eyes you up and down before adding, "Oh, and make sure you dress nice." Not waiting for a response, she makes for the door, leaving you staring dumbly at the spot she had just occupied.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Deciding to be brazen and throw her teasing back at her, you ask, "Do you want it to be?" Honestly, you weren't sure what response you were expecting from her. Maybe for her to scoff in disgust at you for even suggesting as much? +15 points
Her face goes blank for a moment, before slowly turning a shade of pink that matches nicely with the skirt she's wearing. "I didn't say anything of the sort."
Clearing her throat, she stands up, brushing the cat hairs off her clothes. Posture straight and head held high, she says, "Well, I suppose we can think of it as a trial run."
Huh? Huh? Huuuuuh? Well, obviously you had been planning on using the festival as just that, a trial one to see if you should confess to her, but you weren't expecting her to propose the same thing...
Smiling sweetly at you, she says, "Don't disappoint me. And just so you know, I like to arrive early." She pauses, seemingly considering something. Nodding to herself, she adds, "And make sure you dress nice. I won't be the only one making an effort here. With that, she whirls around, long blonde curls fluttering around her, and makes her exit, a slight bounce in her steps. For your part, all you can do is stare at the spot where she'd just been and wonder what exactly you've gotten yourself into.
=================================
Alex
Deciding to divert the attention away from him, you change the topic, talking about how one of your teachers got mad at a student today. -5 points
Your diversion succeeds, and for the rest of the dinner, you and your family make small talk, with Alex occasionally giving short responses when addressed.
Once the dinner is over and it's only you and Alex left at the table, you decide to finally ask the question you'd been holding in all day. "Do you wanna go to the firework festival with me?"
"The firework festival?" Frowning, he looks away, fiddling awkwardly with the ends of his bangs. "I'll-I'll think about it, I guess."
Oh. You try to hide your disappointment, forcing a smile and nodding. Well, at least it wasn't a complete rejection, but it didn't exactly sound promising either...
~~~~~~~~~~~
Deciding to change the topic, you say, "Well, he's not only good at piano, but also drawing. Emersyn has told you about her drawing lessons with him, right?" +10 points
At that, your mom smiles in his direction, "Ah, yes! She always shows us the drawings she does with you. It's so sweet of you to teach her."
Your sister, around a mouthful of pasta adds her own input, exclaiming, "Alex is the best teacher!"
"Um, n-no problem." Alex fiddles, cheeks flushed in embarrassment at the praise. But he does seem to relax, and the rest of the dinner passes in peace.
When your mom has ushered your siblings upstairs to begin getting ready for bed and your dad is occupied with washing the dishes, leaving only you and Alex at the table, you decide to finally make your move. "So, I was thinking, we should go to the firework festival next week."
He stares blankly at you, confusion evident. "The firework festival? You...wanna go with me?"
"Yep. Unless you already have plans?" You hadn't really taken that into consideration, and suddenly you feel a bit nervous, bracing yourself for rejection.
After a moment of hesitation, he says "Well...I suppose it wouldn't hurt to go."
You beam at him, maybe a little too giddy, a little too eager, but you can't bring yourself to care. "Great! We're gonna have a blast."
~~~~~~~~~~~
Deciding to give Alex a helping hand, you say, "Yes, Alex is amazing at the piano, that's actually how we became friends!" +15 points
Alex's head jerks in your direction at that. He looks flustered, but you can't quite tell if it's because of you praising him, you your music room hangouts, or the fact that you, for the first time, referred to the two of you as friends out loud. Perhaps it's a combination of all three. "I followed the sound of his playing and we go to know each other."
Alex scoffs, grumbling, "More like you kept showing up until you finally wore me down." To be fair, that is a more accurate account of how things went, but as soon as the words leave his mouth, his face flushes, indicating that he probably hadn't meant to say that out loud. He looks like he's expecting to get yelled at, but your parents just laugh.
"Yep, that sounds about right."
"I hope she hasn't been causing you too much trouble."
Their light, playful tones seems to throw him for a loop. Refusing to linger on such depressing thoughts, you stick your tongue out at your parents, saying, "Hey, I'm great!" Turning to Alex for support, you add, "Right?"
Alex raises a brow at you and simply shrugs, "Uh, right, I guess."
"A little half-assed, but I'll take it!" Your dad chuckles while your mom fights down a smile and halfheartedly tells you to watch your language. Just like that, the rest of the dinner passes peacefully. Alex is still quiet, but he seems much more relaxed than he had at the start, so you consider it a success.
Aah, well, you suppose that's not surprising...but then, that would just make this all the more special. "Well then, I'd be happy to accompany you on your first!"
Alex rolls his eyes. "Huh? Now you're making it sound like I asked YOU." A slight smile makes its way onto his lips as he says, a hint of nervousness in his tone, "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to go."
PART 10 OPTIONS
Well, it was finally here, the day you had been anxiously waiting for the whole week; the firework festival. You breathe in the cool night air, trying to steady your nerves as you glance around looking for Eden. When you finally spot her, it feels as if time itself freezes. Her hair is styled in a half-up half-down look and decorated with multiple glittery butterfly hair clips. She's wearing a sleeveless pale pink babydoll dress with a bow on the front underneath a cropped cream fur jacket. The look is finished off by her chunky white Mary Janes and the pink heart-shaped purse clutched in her right hand.
You only snap out of your trance when Eden stops right in front of you, having not even noticed her move. She eyes you up and down, surveying your appearance. "Hmm, could be better, but it'll do."
Laughing awkwardly, you say, "Uh, thanks?" Clearing your throat, you nervously add, "Um, you look pretty."
Her face flushes at the earnest compliment, and she tucks a stray strand of hair behind her ear, trying to hide how pleased it makes her. "Ahem, well, of course I do. It's me, after all."
The two of you stand in awkward silence for a bit, neither of you knowing what to say or do next. You feel like you're going to burst, and, unable to take it, quickly ask, "Well, um, we have plenty of time to spare, so whaddya wanna do?"
She looks thoughtful, brows furrowed and head tilted slightly to the side, before just shrugging. "You pick."
Right, well, no pressure. Trying to think about what would satisfy Eden, you decide the two of you should
1. Check out the stalls
2. Walk around
3. Find a quiet spot to wait
Well, it was finally here, the day you had been anxiously waiting for the whole week; the firework festival. Breathing in the cool night air, you intensely survey your surroundings, trying to find Alex. When you finally do, you wave to get his attention, and when he spots you, his eyes widen a bit before he slowly begins to make his way towards you. You take a moment to observe his appearance. His hair was tied back in a low ponytail, but other than that, he was just wearing shorts and a polo shirt...maybe you were a bit overdressed. You had never dressed up for a firework festival before, but you wanted to make it special this time.
When Alex stops in front of you, the first thing he asks is, "Um, was I supposed to dress up?"
Feeling a little bit embarrassed, you laugh awkwardly and shake your head, self-consciously smoothing out invisible wrinkles in your outfit. "No, it's fine. I just wanted to."
"Oh." Looking away, he stutters, "Well, um, y-you look nice."
Your face heats up at that, and you bet anyone who saw the two of you right now would think that you looked like a pair of bright red cherries. "T-thanks." Clapping your hands, you will your face to return to normal and say, "Ahem, well, the fireworks won't start for another 30 minutes, so we have some free time until then. What do you wanna do?"
Furrowing his brows, he shrugs, looking a bit flustered. "I don't know...I thought the whole point was just to watch fireworks." There is a hint of defensiveness in his tone, as if he's worried, you'll make fun of him, but of course, you would never do that.
Well, then, it seemed you'd have to pick for him. You decide the two of you should
Well, it was finally here, the day you had been anxiously waiting for the whole week; the firework festival. You breathe in the cool night air, trying to steady your nerves as you glance around looking for Eden. When you finally spot her, it feels as if time itself freezes. Her hair is styled in a half-up half-down look and decorated with multiple glittery butterfly hair clips. She's wearing a sleeveless pale pink babydoll dress with a bow on the front underneath a cropped cream fur jacket. The look is finished off by her chunky white Mary Janes and the pink heart-shaped purse clutched in her right hand.
You only snap out of your trance when Eden stops right in front of you, having not even noticed her move. She eyes you up and down, surveying your appearance. "Hmm, could be better, but it'll do."
Laughing awkwardly, you say, "Uh, thanks?" Clearing your throat, you nervously add, "Um, you look pretty."
Her face flushes at the earnest compliment, and she tucks a stray strand of hair behind her ear, trying to hide how pleased it makes her. "Ahem, well, of course I do. It's me, after all."
Taking into consideration how Alex is like a frail Victorian child/one of those fainting goats I’m concerned the loud fireworks might make him pass out
