Sunday was "Celebrate Your Unique Talent Day"!
We all have unique talents and traits that stand out from others. Like us, there are idols with unique expertise that would be perfect for celebrating on this occasion. Let's take a look at 10 idols who pleasantly surprised us with their natural aptitude.
#1: EXID'S HANI - TAKING A SELFIE WITH HER FOOT
Hani debuted in 2012 as the lead vocalist and lead dancer of EXID. Not only can she sing, dance, and host variety shows, she also has a special knack for taking selfies with the phone rested between her toes. She demonstrated this ability during a ‘Weekly Idol’ episode, with her group in 2015. A year later, during her appearance in ‘Star King’, she took a selfie with her foot standing up, in addition to sitting down. She says the advantage of taking a selfie with her foot is that both of her hands can be shown in the photo. Check out her clip in ‘Star King’ below!
#2: BTS' JIN - BACK-BENDING AND WALKING BACKWARDS
Jin debuted in 2013 as a vocalist in BTS and is famous for his "Mr. Worldwide Handsome" looks. We also know him for his prominent flair in cooking and for his acting, as expressed through various short clips and MVs. One of his hidden talents that astonished the hosts in 2014’s ‘Weekly Idol’ episode was when he demonstrated his stunning ability in bending his back 90 degrees and walking backwards. He also impressed the hosts in 2017’s ‘Knowing Brothers’ episode, where he swiftly opened snack bags with his toes. He defeated the hosts one-by-one in a speed game. #3: RED VELVET'S IRENE – GREAT IMPERSONATOR
Irene debuted as a member of Red Velvet in 2014. She spent 5 years as a trainee in SM, and through her training years, she was well prepared to become a leader, sub-vocal, and dancer of the group. She can meow like a cat, as seen in 2014’s 'Weekly Idol' episode when she appeared with her group. Her cat-like image also appeared in Red Velvet's debut single ‘Happiness’ when she was representing herself as a cat. A year later, she imitated Doraemon, an animated character, during another ‘Weekly Idol’ episode. The video is available below!
#4: SHINEE'S ONEW - OPENING A WALNUT WITH HIS FINGERS
Onew is well-known as the leader and lead vocalist of Shinee. He has a note-worthy trick up his sleeve, which is his ability to split open a walnut with his finger. This is useful when there’s no nut-cracker around. He showed this skill in a 2010 episode of ‘School Variety 100 Points out of 100’. Additionally, he can spin a plate with his finger, as seen in a 2012 episode of 'Champagne'. Check out how he opened the walnut in a clip below, starting at 0:31!
#5: GFRIEND'S SINB - ROTATING HER HAND 360 DEGREES
SinB debuted as a member of Gfriend in 2015 as the main dancer. Prior to her debut, she trained at Big Hit Entertainment for 5 years, honing her dancing and vocal skills. Not only can she ace difficult choreographies, she also has remarkable flexibility, as we can see her rotating her hand 360 degrees in a 2017 ‘Immortal Song 2’ episode. Check out the clip below. However, it’s not for the faint-hearted because you can hear her bone slightly bone cracking.
#6: BTS' SUGA - BALANCING A SPINNING BASKETBALL WITH HIS FINGERS
As a member of BTS, Suga is recognized for his exceptional rapping and producing skills. He displayed his extraordinary aptitude in making belly-dance waves using his abs during the radio show ‘Shindong’s SimSimTaPa’ in 2013. His other hidden forte, his love for basketball, was revealed when he balanced a spinning basketball with his fingertip in the 2017 episode of ‘Knowing Brothers’ - you can check it out in the clip below!
#7: WEKI MEKI'S LUA - WHOPPING FLEXIBILITY IN HER LEGS AND ARMS
Lua debuted in 2017 as a main dancer, vocalist, and rapper in Weki Meki. In a ‘Weekly Idol’ episode with her group and Golden Child, she showed her unbelievable flexibility in stretching her legs. She can spin her arm and stretch her leg 180 degrees. Additionally, she can tumble well. She was able to develop her balancing skills by taking gymnastics and ballet lessons during her childhood. #8: SEVENTEEN THE8 - MASTER OF NUNCHUCKS
The8 is a lead dancer and member of the performance team in Seventeen. While he is known for his incredible choreography on stage, he can also maneuver nunchucks efficiently, as noted in a 2017 'Weekly Idol' episode with his group. He was able to develop this skill because he had learned martial arts since he was 4 years old. Check out his competence in using the ancient weapon, in a 'Weekly Idol' episode below!
#9: WJSN's CHENG XIAO - SPINNING THE HOOPS WITH OBJECTS ON THEM
Cheng Xiao debuted as the main dancer and vocalist of WJSN in 2016. We’ve taken a glimpse of her forte in rhythmic gymnastics during the 'Idol Star Athletics Championships (ISAC)', in 2016 and 2018. However, she also has the exhilarating power to spin hoops containing food above her head. The containers holding the sauce and food were not glued to the hoops, and they remained intact. #10: ATEEZ'S JONGHO - OPENING FRUITS WITH HIS HANDS
Jongho is the main vocalist and maknae of the boy group Ateez, who debuted in 2018. Not only can he sing well, but he also has a unique way of opening fruits (e.g. apples and watermelons) with his hands while singing. Check out his strength in the clip below!
