To celebrate the writers of H+, here's a fun writing event for everyone!

Game Mechanics:
-You will have to choose a prompt from the ones being given.
-You will then have to write a story based on the prompt that you have chosen.
-The story will need to have an introduction, a development, and an ending.
-The introduction and some parts of the development HAVE to be based on the prompt you have chosen; the ending is up to each person.
-You will be asked to post one thread in the Writer's Month subsection where you will post "pages" to your story.
-The thread must be titled like this: name of the story - Writer's Month Entry.
-Everyone is required to write AT LEAST 3 "pages" in the thread of their story. These 3 pages MUST be part of the introduction, development, and ending.
-This event will be a month-long. For the first 3 weeks, you will be required to write at least one page per week and by the 4th week, you will be asked to try and finalize the story. During this time, you may also attempt to make technical edits to what you have previously written.
-Each week, there will be additional challenges and requirements posed by the OP in the gameplay thread. You may decide to implement the optional challenges into your story or not; however, there will be obligatory challenges as well.

Points:
-Points will be assigned by the OP every time you post a page on time. There will be no additional points given to whoever decides to write more than 3 pages on their thread but will be greatly appreciated!
-Points will be given to each writer that implements the optional challenges into their stories.
-The winner will be chosen based on the points assigned by judges at the end of the event and the points assigned by OP during the event for the completion of challenges

Rules:
-An introduction, development, and ending are required for the story.
-The story HAS to be a minimum of 3 pages long (including the intro, development, and ending) and a maximum of 10.
-Each page should be a minimum of 250 words long and a maximum of 900.
-Plagiarism is not accepted! This will disqualify the writer from the event.
-The prompts MUST be followed for the introduction and a part of the development; however, each writer has the liberty to expand and not be confined to following the prompt afterward.
-Good grammar is not required however the stories must be easy to comprehend and flow fluidly.

Judging system:
-Authenticity of the overall story. (how creative and innovative the story is; if there were too many cliché plot devices etc.)
-How creative the writer was in terms of characters, settings, and overall themes.
-How well the writer has followed the initial prompt.
The judges will be asked to give a score between 0 to 100 to each of the points above.

Prompts:
Once you've entered the event you may choose one of the prompts listed below.
They are given on a first-come, first-served basis. Only 2 players may choose the same prompt.

Prompt 1
If you get assigned to the fryolator one more time, you are going to lose it. You hate your manager, and you hate working at Burger Hut, but most of all you hate the smell of French fries cooking in a rancid vat of oil. You clock in, tie on an apron, and—surprise, surprise—Ken has you on fry duty again. Jerk. You go into the walk-in freezer to grab a bag of frozen fries, but when you turn around, the freezer is gone. In fact, the entire Burger Hut is gone. So is the year 2020! You discover that are on a potato farm in rural Ireland in 1545. You don't know what to do, until it dawns on you that no one here knows how to make a French fry. With your advanced knowledge on the subject, you could make a ton of money and become a lord or something. You knock on the potato farmer's door, introduce yourself, and discuss your business plan. After a minute, he slams the door in your face. You begin to lose hope, but when the farmer's beautiful daughter approaches you and expresses her interest in your food invention, you think you have found your business partner—and perhaps something much more.
Prompt 2
On your eighteenth birthday, you notice unexplainable things happening around you. Objects seem to move if you squint at them. Faint, golden sparks seem to shoot from your fingertips. Dreams of a handsome stranger with violet eyes plague you at night. At first, you chalk it all up to your imagination, but a week after your birthday, the mysterious stranger from your dreams approaches you and reveals that you are a high-born fairy who was hidden in the human world as a baby for your protection. You are now coming into a powerful arsenal of magic and are destined to be the ruler of a fairy kingdom that will fall apart if you continue residing in the human world

Prompt 3
Prompt 4
Prompt 5

Everyone has heard of The Rift. It is a central part of many horror films out there. You hear it spoken about in drunken whispers in seedy deep space taverns. You hear it from poets, prophets, and children. It's the half-cracked smugglers that frighten you, though. The ones who travel all their lives. The ones who've actually seen things. Mostly, it is that single-eyed Jhanaean. He described it like the others, a shuddering tear in space-time, leaping with utter randomness between the stars. He described how it swallowed one. He described the communication frequency he'd accidentally used to summon it. Now, aliens hellbent on conquest are about to take over your planet, and the Federation army is too far away.
Prompt 6
Prompt 7

You and your family have always been content to live on your desert planet as shepherds. Now, however, the wells on the outskirts have been drying up and the central springs are weaker. The increasing number of sandstorms are destroying the condensers and moisture recyclers that sustain you, and the labor droids malfunction. People in your community, including your family, are growing restless. You know what you must do. The wasteland to the east is a fabled place, the site of an ancient battle between super-advanced civilizations. Only the shells of massive ships and the skeletons of fallen alien warriors remain, surrounded by stories of strange lights, spirits, and disembodied voices. Travel was outlawed there after six explorers disappeared, but you've seen the place from afar and you think it holds a secret. A few scattered machines and skeletons of military pilots have been uncovered far from the wasteland. You've pieced together scraps of symbols and communications, and you believe they reveal a hidden paradise at the center of the planet. This Garden of Eden is accessible through a portal, over which the final battle was fought. But, to get there, you must travel through the wreckage of this ancient war and whatever spirits there are.
