Nana yawned as she headed to the bathroom in the female student’s residence hall. It was late at night and she didn’t want to disturb anyone so she consciously made the effort to tread her steps lightly. From the corner of her eye she saw a familiar silhouette at the far end of the corridor. Wasn’t that Mark, Jieqiong’s boyfriend? she thought, as she squinted, trying to make sense of the figure in the dark. Nana stepped closer before an orange haired girl peered out one of the doors. “You made it!” she heard her say. With that the figure that seemed to be Mark entered the room and the door was shut.

No way…

Yeri and Siyeon were both at home in their mansion at the Hamptons for the duration of the second and third year students’ trip. First year students had no classes, so they could go home for the time being, while fourth year students needed to stay for graduation rehearsals. Siyeon despite being a third year student felt compelled to skip out on the volunteer trip, as there were matters at home she needed to tend to. Her parents had been fighting an awful lot lately, and while that wasn’t something that particularly warranted her stay home, she sensed something off about exactly what they were arguing about. The atmosphere was odd.

Yohan walked over to where Doyeon was on the patio. It seemed like she was so immersed in her work that she didn’t even notice his presence. That is, until she exclaimed while still looking at her laptop, “let me do my work in peace. Go to bed.”

Yohan pulled up a chair in front of her and slowly sat down, “Doyeon you can’t keep running away from me.”

Doyeon froze for a moment. She knew deep down there was something fundamentally guilty she felt about how she responded to Yohan weeks earlier. Doyeon closed her laptop and stood up, turning to the tree next to the table in the patio, exclaiming, “it doesn’t matter now does it… we should both move on.”

Yohan followed Doyeon and put his hand on her shoulder, slowly turning her around, “we can’t move on if we don’t talk about it? Right?”

Doyeon’s eyes looked to the grassy patio ground, her heart started to race and she blurted out, “what’s the point of talking about it? You’ve got a bunch of other girls you talk to anyway, me not being one of them shouldn’t matter.”

Doyeon huffed, thinking about Yohan’s circle of female friends. She was sure that a lot of them wanted to be more than just friends with him, and that never sat well with her. But who was she fooling, she was never more than a friend to Yohan anyway.

Yohan winced at her comment, before slamming his hand onto the tree trunk, Doyeon’s startled face directly next to his extended arm, she was now looking at his eyes that were watering, burning with anger, but most of all hurt.

“Are you serious right now? They’ve always been just friends. You’re--you’ve always been more than a friend!” he scoffed. Yohan’s heart felt as if it would leap out of his chest and would end up in a universe far away. Doyeon's curt words cut through him so deeply he was almost shaking, and yet his eyes could only focus on how ethereal her face looked under the moonlight, her wide eyes beckoning his flushed face to come closer to hers.

Doyeon saw Yohan’s exasperated face come closer to her own, with his lush black hair brushing against her forehead. Doyeon felt a surge of helpless yielding fill her body as his round lips met hers, her eyes widening at the sudden contact. Yohan’s lips were soft at first, simply exploring her delicate dark cherry red pillows, but they quickly became riddled with passion, as he bent her head back, his right hand now traveling up her back, pulling her close. He was persistent, and any thoughts Doyeon had of resisting were now melted and molded into pure desire. With every tear she felt on Yohan’s face, the more she wanted to embrace him wholly. Doyeon closed her eyes. Like an ocean ready to drown its prey, she enveloped Yohan’s neck with her arms, with a feeling of cathartic release washing over her as if to validate her advances.

It was the next day and student volunteers lined up with trash bags and equipment to cleanup the beach. Some complained, while others secretly ditched the routine. Nana was walking out of the female student’s residence, following Mark, who she had now become suspicious of. She knew he had to have been fooling around with the girl she saw last night, and now she needed to have evidence. Luckily for her, this didn’t come too long after she started trailing behind Mark, as Mark met with the same girl she saw from last night, with orange hair. Mark smiled at the girl, whose tan was now brightly visible in the sunlight. The two started to engage in a makeout session in the corner of the back alley, which caused Nana to let out a small gasp. But sure enough, she was prepared and snapped a few photos of the two on her phone. Poor Jieqiong…

It had been one week since Krystal received that ominous e-mail. She was now paranoid at nearly everything she came across at the campus, but as it was mandatory to show for graduation rehearsals, she tried to keep herself at some baseline of peace, to simply get through the end of the semester.

Krystal saw a flash notification from her phone, she shook her body, as if to release the darkness surrounding her thoughts. She knew it had to be just another work e-mail. As she clicked the notification with her trembling thumb, her pupils filled with the white light of her opened e-mail:

“You might be next.”
