For a wholesome anime Non Non Biyori and Yuru Camp comes to mind. The show is so chill and the animation on the nature is so beautiful makes me want to chill and enjoying what I've seen.

First, I'd like to say, I'm so sorry for your loss.
Second, I never know for sure what kind of anime that you looks for but for me personally, if I want to look for some distraction I'd like to look for funny anime, and honestly my recommend goes to: Ufo Baby, Gals, Akazukin Cha Cha, Digimon, Hanazakarino Kimitachi e (not really anime, but they was so fuuun to watch (the dorama) or read (the manga)), Ranma 1/2, Jigoku Sensei Nube, Crayon Shinchan, Chibi Maruko Chan, Doraemon, Kobo-chan, Hagemaru, Dr Slump and so on!
