Another day, another lawsuit in the Hybe vs MHJ vs Ador vs NJ vs Belift drama

Here is a summary of today's lawsuits:

Belift vs MHJ to begin in January 2025.

Back in June (???), Belift labs filed a lawsuit against MHJ for damages her allegations that Illit plagiarized New Jeans.

The lawsuit is officially supposed to start trial on January 10th 2025 and Belift labs is currently asking for 2 billion won (1,652,000-ish USD) in compensation.

To give some background:

- MHJ claimed Illit plagiarized NJ, she is saying a whistleblower said Belift requested NJ's debut plan and it was taken to them on August 28th. She is claiming that on August 28th Belift labs only just began to start planning Illit's debut concept, so NJ's debut plan was being referenced through the whole thing.

- Belift labs is claiming Illit's debut concept was already finalized by July 21st, so if someone took NJ's debut plan to them past that it would have made no influence on their debut concept since it was already done and being put into affect.

The article got a statement from MHJ which is :
Despite the specific testimony of the internal informant at Hybe and the clear similarities, they are denying it and misleading public opinion. It was Hybe and Belief Lab who brought out issues that could have been resolved internally, spread numerous false facts, and committed obstruction of business and defamation. They need to look back and see who it is that is claiming obstruction of business by using a new artist as a shield without considering the damage caused to New Jeans.

In addition to this lawsuit, there is also a second lawsuit Belift labs is filing against MHJ which is for obstruction of business and defamation.

Here is their statement on the second lawsuit:
Min Hee-jin sacrificed an innocent rookie group for her own personal gain. We express regret that by claiming plagiarism as a means of securing her own personal gain, she is having a negative impact on popular culture as a whole. If we cannot correct this act of fabricating and distorting only positions that are favorable to oneself, even in matters that should be judged in a professional context, this will greatly hinder the creative activities of creators, and Min Hee-jin will never be free.

The article then included some more back and forth fighting between MHJ and Belift. They included this quote from MHJ from April 25th:
Who benefits from this? This is ruining Illit as well. If we do this, they will all become New Jeans. I'm not slandering Illit What did they do wrong? The adults are the problem
And this is Belift's response to that quote:
If you're really saying, 'What's the fault of the kids?' I think you should minimize mentions of artists in situations where there's no need to. However, that kind of argument is what's called targeting. It's the same as instructing idol fans who support you and agree with your thoughts to criticize and badmouth Illit, and that's what happened. It was really bad. It's really surprising that someone who has worked in this industry longer than anyone else can make such a claim. It's really hard to forgive that such an unusual event started with a ridiculous claim for the selfish desires of one individual.

Tokki's to sue Belift labs on New Jean's Behalf

Tokki's, New Jean's fandom, is once again filing a lawsuit on New Jean's behalf.

The group of fans, Team Bunnies, is begining a lawsuit against Belift lab's CEO for plagiarizing New Jeans. They are filing this as a response to the article I mentioned above, they are angered by the fact that Belift labs is still denying that they never plagiarized New Jeans.

They claim they have a full proposal and recording proving that Belift labs plagiarized New Jeans. They also are claiming that they are bringing this to court instead of publicly releasing the recording since it would be the best way to clarify the matter.

They are also filing an additional criminal lawsuit against Belift's labs's visual director and performance director for plagiarizing new jeans.

They are also stating that the only victims in this whole case are New Jeans and their creative directors, no one else (not Illit or Belift labs).

Here is a tweet from twitter with an english translation of their statement

It looks like we still have another year or two of this

What are your thought's on all of this?

I'm a bit rubbed the wrong way by Tokki's thinking that Illit are not also victims. They are very much getting hate for things they didn't do during this and I would consider them victims. As mentioned with recent Wayv and TXT plagiarism controversy, blame/attack the company not the artists.

This is also their 4th or 5th lawsuit

Are these fans as rich as MHJ or something because I’m confused how they have the cash for all of this, and I’m confused how fans magically have personal documents from the company out of nowhere? :iwillfightyou:

I know one of the big NJ’s accounts is a man (I think an older ban? Older than the girls at the very least).

Every girl group is going to have creepy older men fans.

I think their adult fans with the adult money are the ones filing all these lawsuits. With the way they magically have a team of lawyers fighting for them I highly doubt their younger fans are coordinating all of this. Especially since they’re suing on their behalf out of their own pocket.

Upon further thinking, I think the proper ending to all of this should be NJ and Illit teaming up together and group suing Hybe Ador/MHJ and Belift for defamation and all the BS they’ve put them through this past year :lurk2:

This is like next level fandom intensity.

In contrast, the most intense thing fans of SM groups have done is send billboard trucks to "protest".

Why is SM's fan past so erased? lol

That is still so top tier for me.

But, true, newer group fans seem to have mellowed out a bit.

Edit: Wait... the death wreaths from two weeks ago.

Yea, the death wreaths from 2 weeks ago probably takes the cake for most unhinged and intense thing SM groups have done. They sent 1000 death wreaths to poor Seunghan cause they wanted him out of the group :mochabearfire:

I feel like filing multiple lawsuits on your artist's behalf without even talking/getting approval from said artists is up there for next level intensity though.

I'd put it up there with the fans who personally paid for a private investigator from the Philippines to look into Lucas's allegations to clear his name :uwot:

Slightly unrelated, but how do you guys think these fans are getting "proof and voice recordings" of all of these hybe/ador/belift people? They don't work for any of those companies so i'm genuinely confused how they are getting this without bribing someone to break in and get it, or without an investigation.

They could be bluffing and actually have no proof? This is my tinfoil hat theory, but do you guys ever wonder if maybe MHJ is sliding them all of the paperwork to sue them on her/their behalf? Like, we know MHJ is running low on money by now, and she hasn't been winning many lawsuits. I'm guessing there's maybe stuff she can't do herself so she's secretly working with fans to do her bidding for her :jiutea:

Great idea! Given all the crazy stuff we're hearing, that theory is just as believable.

I was wondering the same thing. :TzuyuKek:

From how some were explaining it on the Reddit megathreads for this saga, it seems like what they're actually doing is just filing something like a petition for the police/the court/whoever to look into whatever issue they're raising, and then the police/court/whoever take it to the actual named victim(s) of the issue and ask them if they would like to press the matter further or not. This made it make a lot more sense to me because I was also wondering, "if it's so easy for fans to sue on their idols' behalf, why haven't we seen this crazy behavior a lot more often?".
