As we're easing back into our daily lives, here are some little news blips:

Joy rumored renewal
As of right now, we have not gotten any official confirmation on whether Wendy, Joy, and Yeri has renewed their contracts with SM. Their contracts are expected to expire really soon, at the end of this year.
Rumors have started that Joy might have renewed her contract with SM. She was recently featured on SM's actor instagram, something that's never happened before.
People are also speculating that maybe SM is finally including Joy in their SM actor's lineup to persuade her to stay.
While we won't know what the three idol's decisions are until they are officially announced, fans are speculating that Joy's recent introduction is a sign that she has renewed with the company.
Park ShinHye speech
Park ShinHye's speech at the 2024 SBS Drama Awards was trending on twitter.
In her speech she was thanking everyone for still supporting her despite becoming a wife and mother.
Oversea kpop fans were really moved and upset by her speech because of the double standards women face in the Korean entertainment industry. They have been upset that women have to risk loosing their careers if they get married and have kids, while men, such as the recent scandal with Park JungWoo or Song Joongki's with his marriage, have their careers go untouched.
In response, fans are trying to show lots of support and words of encouragement towards Park ShinHye so she doesn't feel insecure about her career.
Congrats Park ShinHye on your well deserved award! We will always support you!
Girls On Fire canceled
Survival show group Girls On Fire has had their debut canceled. One of the members of the pre-debut group YoonJung confirmed so on tiktok.
As winners, the members were promised a prize of ₩200,000,000, an album release, a national concert tour, and a global showcase. They will now be getting nothing.
To sum things up: unlike other survival shows which usually have a company already agreeing to debut the group before the survival show even airs, the Girls On Fire survival show aired without any company agreeing to debut the group. Their plan was to make the group on the show and then ask a company to pick them up and debut them, but after the show finished the survival show people could not find a company to debut them and the group was scrapped.
Because of this, the girls don't even really have grounds to sue anyone for their canceled prizes either.
Fans are understandably outraged on social media, and many people are also left dumbfounded that the survival show promised to debut a group without even finding a company to debut them in the first place.
We hope the girls can get some sort justice or can get picked up by a company to debut!
The Boyz criticized by Korean fans
To explain all of the heat The Boyz has been going through recently by their Korean fans i'd probably have to make a whole separate dedicated post to it
The Boyz have recently changed companies from IST to One Hundred. Korean Deobi have been heavily criticizing The Boyz for leaving IST and have been urging them to leave One Hundred and go back to IST. They have also been heavily criticizing how One Hundred has been handling The Boyz so far.
The Boyz have not been attending any year-end award shows this year. This is mostly due to the fact that the members have been changing companies and going through legal battles, and due to said legal battles promoting is just not practical right now. One Hundred has been granting The Boyz time off to spend the holidays with the holidays with their families and have some free time in the meantime. This is the first time The Boyz have been spending Christmas with their families in 3-4 years.
Korean Deobi started to flock to twitter to attack The Boyz for spending Christmas with their families instead of attending year end award shows. Since The Boyz were trending on twitter, the members saw the hate posts from Korean Deobi and Younghoon had to go on Fromm to apologize for not being on year end award shows and explain it was not possible for them to do so due to moving companies.
Oversea Deobi are currently angry and Korean deobi for attacking The Boyz for spending time with their family.
Ryujin asks fans to stop
Itzy's Ryujin has currently asked fans to please stop attacking her for her current ear injury (?)
Korean fans have noticed Ryujin has a Keloid on one of her ears and have been urging her to please get it removed because they think it looks unsightly.
Ryuijin went on bubble to explain to fans that she has went to the doctor about her ear, but has asked fans to please stop talking about it.
We don't know if Ryujin is choosing to remove it or just keep it, it's not our business, but for some side context: Keloid's are also chronic so even if she get's it removed there's chances of it growing back.

Stray Kids new hairstyles
Stray Kids have debuted her hairstyles at he 2024 Gayo Daejeon awards and it has been the talk of the internet!
Felix has switched from his signature blond hair to black, Han has dyed his hair blue, and the biggest talk of the town has been Hyujin's new blonde buzzcut.
The internet is currently divided on Hyunjin's new hairstyle.

- Bangchan of Stray Kids has donated 100 million won (about 69,000 USD) to the Community Chest of Korea to support athletes with disabilities.
- Lee Know of Stray Kids has donated 100 million won to the World Vision Global Food Response Project which provides food, clean water, and life-saving aid to people in need.
- Hyunjin of Stray Kids has donated 100 million won to The Snail of Love for Hearing Impaired which is a Korean a social welfare organization that provides hearing aids and artificial cochlear implants to people with hearing loss. He also donated presents to children at Samsung Seoul Hospital
- Felix of Stray Kids has donated 100 million won to World Vision and Unicef.
- I.N of Stray Kids has donated 100 million won to Child Fund Korea which is a welfare program that tries to protect children's rights by providing them financial, physical, and emotional help to children who have/are suffering from physical and mental damage. They also advocate for children's rights policies.
- All Stray Kids members have also designed bags and blankets to be donated to Korea's National Cancer Center to support children and adolescents.

I keep seeing people on Twitter suggesting that it is a piercing keloid but in all likelihood it is actually a sebaceous cyst because of size, shape and location. My own late grandfather had one in almost the same spot. They may be attempting to reduce the size instead first . But if it is encapsulated a surgical procedure under local anesthesia has to be done. An incision is made and they have to remove all of the tissue inside or the cyst can return. Recovery is relatively fast and only a small scar generally remains. I witnessed the removal of one in real life and it only require a doctor and a single assistant.

Ryujin herself has been saying that it’s a keloid, and she said she has been to a doctor already and is still saying it’s a keloid, so I’m honestly with fans believing it’s some sort of keloid.
If it was just a cyst that can be removed in a surgical visit she probably would have just gotten that done already or told fans “this is a cyst that will be getting removed, so please don’t worry”.
She’s instead saying herself it’s a keloid and is asking people to stop talking about it since she will be dealing with it for awhile.
Keloids are also reoccurring and she’s been dealing with this keloid for 4 years (I remember had to get one removed back in 2022 and had a scar).

I certainly take your word for that. When I have seen her comments she only has said ear. But I don't doubt it it you say you saw her mention keloids herself.

Go back to IST? Is there even an IST to go back to? What entitlement, they obviously haven't had the sort of resources to get year end performances planned out with their former agency crumbling and being with their new agency hardly a month. What do they want them to do, show up in joggers and perform on an empty stage with no fanfare? These things take some time and approval lmao

They LITERALLY just got word they can keep their group name like a week or two ago? And we still have no word on other things such as song rights, if we’re keeping our fandom name, if we need a new lightstick, etc. It’s going to be a hot minute before they’re up and running again and I’m glad 100 is letting them see their families in the downtime. They’ve barely seen their families in like 3+ years?
This is just my opinion on something that I’m putting under cut:
This is just my opinion: but I feel like the current NJ situation is misleading people a bit. People are seeing NJ promote new stuff despite the ongoing legal battles and are wondering why can’t TBZ do the same, but people doing realize NJ’s in a unique situation and their actions aren’t really normal.
Just because NJ is willing to promote during a lawsuit where they don’t know if they can keep their group name, keep their songs, etc, doesn’t mean other groups are willing to be risky and do the same.

To throw around some other things Korean Deobi have been pissed about:
- They didn’t like the handle names for their new social media channels under 100. They bullied 100 into changing them and got their new twitter suspended for a while because Korean Deobi were that pissed TBZ left IST and had new accounts they mass reported them.
- The first post on their new sns accounts was a video of Kevin playing Christmas songs on the saxophone. KDeobi’s were so pissed the first post was of Kevin there was a big hate train on Twitter and they were sending him death threats. 100 announced they would be taking legal action and this pissed them off more.
- Sangyeon is currently in a musical. 100 announced they would be stopping his after musical meetups because fans were being disruptive and rude towards the other people in the musical and KDeobi’s got mad again.
- Just in general 100 has been very proactive about taking legal action and protecting TBZ and fans are pissed.
I know company stans are an issue in the western kpop world, but I didn’t know they existed in the Korean kpop world as well. Why are Korean deobi’s so obsessed with IST? Since when did they love IST so much? Where did this come from?
