Here is a roundup of the NJZ and Hybe/Ador news that has happened over the last few days.

Youtube Channel Lawsuits

HYBE has been approved for a subpoena in the US for the identities of 7 youtube channels who have been defaming/harassing Le Sserafim and Illit.

It seems google complied with no objections and Hybe is now able to sue the youtube channels in South Korea for compensation and other penalties. (I am under the assumption all the youtube channels were ran by Koreans?)

Here is the list of the youtube channels:

The youtube channels combined have more than 250,00 subscribers.

Here is a mini timeline of what was going on in this case with the courts:
- August 2024: Source Music and Belift Labs first started the court cases against these youtube channels though it hit a standstill cause they needed the channel identities from Google.
- September 2024: Hybe, Source, and Belift filed an ex parte application for the gathering of evidence for use in their foreign proceedings.
- November 2024: Chief Magistrate approved the application and the subpoena for the youtube account's information from google begins
- December 2024: Google officially served notice to hand over the information.
- January 2025: Subpoena continues. Google and the youtube channel have 30 days to file a notion opposing the subpoena
- February 5th 2025: No oppositions were filed. Google now has 10 days to hand over the information. Case is officially closed.

This is not the first time Hybe/Source has sued youtube channels for defamation. In August 2024 google had to give Hybe the information of two other youtube channels who were defaming Le Sserafim.

Ador Addresses NJZ Name

Ador has released a statement asking people to please not call New Jeans NJZ since the court case regarding their contract validity has not started yet.

The court case for the pause on advertising contract begins on March 7th and the court case for the contract validity is April 2nd.

Here is the full statement:​

Hello, this is Ador.

We would like to ask a favor of reporters regarding the use of the group name New Jeans.

On the 7th, the members of New Jeans announced that they would be promoting under a group name that had not been agreed upon with Adore, causing confusion among reporters and making many inquiries.

The exclusive contracts between the members of New Jeans and Adore are legally valid, and the claim that they have been terminated is a one-sided claim.

We have filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract along with an injunction to acknowledge that Adore is a management company (planning company) under the exclusive contract, and we are waiting for the court's decision.

We ask reporters to use the official team name 'New Jeans' based on the legal contract when writing articles.

We ask reporters who are more aware than anyone else of the importance of exclusive contracts in the entertainment industry to cooperate so that accurate reporting can be provided.

We will do our best to end the confusion as soon as possible and present good music and content.

NJZ Fandom Name

Hanni held an instagram live yesterday and it seems New Jean's fandom name, which is currently Bunnies/Tokkis, will be changed to BNZ. It will be pronounced B-N-Z like how NJZ's name is pronounced N-J-Z.

NJZ also has said they will not be giving any spoilers to fans on their upcoming redebut/comeback.

No offense to Ador, but I personally will still be using NJZ. I don't feel like its a bad abbreviation for New Jeans?
And this might sound weird but as someone born and raised in NJ I always felt ironic also calling New Jeans NJ. I like NJZ better and I prefer to have NJ stand for New Jersey

People have also been calling out how a lot of the youtube channels who are being sued for defaming Le Sserafim an Illlit seem to be NJZ fan accounts.

Wow ador reduced to pleading for news companies not to use njz name. They are not helping themselves legally by making no attempts at getting an injunction against njz to halt their actions in the name change. This looks pitiful.

Maybe they don’t see the point? They have 2 court dates starting soon and if they file another injunction now it will be 3 months minimum before the court dates start and by that time the contract validity court case will already be underway.

This is a separate issue and the njz new song will debut after the advertising issue in court March 7th but before the contract termination issue in April. So legally it is important as njz attorneys can use it as an example in court of ador/hybe not believing that they have a valid case.

Looks like we were both thinking this with the NJ feeling like its sharing a lane with the state lol.

As much as I do actually like the original name "NewJeans" I'm on board with the change to BNZ for fandom name as a more coherent match for NJZ.
