Kai Comeback

Speaking of EXO, It was announced today that Kai's long awaited comeback will be next month in April. The music video will begin shooting next week.

Young Posse Controversy

In my 12/10 news roundup I mentioned how Young Posse had to remove a song from their Christmas album called "Santa Claus Is Coming To Hood" due to massive backlash.
Everyone thought the song was scrapped but apparently we were all wrong

The song "Santa Clause Left Me No Goodz" is the rewrite of the song that they have re-released.
The rewrite is getting mixed reactions from people. Some people are happy about the rewrite and like the song. Others are still kind of disturbed by the song since it was originally supposed to be about "the hood", the song includes gunshots in the background, and the dark/depressing nature of the song. Due to these things fans are concerned what the original song was supposed to be like and are angered/disturbed by the thought of it.

A.C.E Name Change

It was announced yesterday that A.C.E's Donghun has changed his name from Lee Donghun to Lee Jiham.
We haven't really gotten an explanation to why he changed his name though fans have shared he was having issues with people mispronouncing/misspelling his name, and his name was possibly too similar to a bad word in Korean? Which probably contributed to the name change.
Congrats on your new name Jiham! We hope you are happy with the change! We will support you!

NCT 127 Concert Mess

NCT 127's US tour has started and there has been mixed reviews about the audience from other fans (and the artist themselves I guess?)

People were reportedly smoking in the pit, a video of doyoung smelling it and making a face has been circling around social media.

Another video of doyoung asking the audience to please take a shower is also going around (I have no idea if this was from the same stop or another one).

People have also been apparently camping for days outside the venue to get barricade and fighting to cut in line to get to the front for both barricade and the send off.

If you go to a kpop concert, please respect one another and follow proper concert etiquette.

Twice x Sanrio Collab

It was announced in Japan that Twice's Mascots Lovely's will have a collaboration with Sanrio!
Twice and Sanrio are two of my favorite things so my heart and wallet are excited for this.
Sana is being paired up with My Melody so please say RIP to my heart and wallet (though I think this is Japan exclusive so I can't even buy it).

Good Luck KG!

I wanted to take a quick minute to shout out that former VCHA's KG's lawsuit against JYP ent is today!

Today's court case it really important. This is an open to the public court hearing and it will determine whether the case will be done through the court of law and which will open the trial to the public, or through arbitration which is what JYP ent is fighting for. If the court chooses arbitration then everything will be handled privately behind closed doors.

KG is fighting for the court case to be done in open court so that the public can know the truth of what she has went through so please wish her extra luck today on her court hearing!

We Hate ZB Label

I made an announcement yesterday on how Kim Seri, the artist formerly known as AleXa, has finally left her label. She has confirmed that she will be loosing access to all of her former socials and to please follow her new socials @ Seriinade.

Following AleXa's departure from her label, ZB Label has FINALLY announced they are releasing her english album that was supposed to drop probably a year ago by now?


Waiting until your artist has left the label to drop their postponed album is loser behavior. Shame on ZB Label.

Gdragon lighstick

Gdragon has announced his official lightstick!

The lightstick is actually super nice, it's a flower and the base to hold the lighstick is a flowerpot.

It's a tiny bit reminiscent of Chuu's lightsick to me as well.

I also remember hearing that Gdragon technically invented the kpop lightstick with Big Bang's lighstick? So I find it funny that almost 20 years later he releases his own. It feels like the circle of life

Santa Claus Is Coming To Hood" as someone not from the US or from the Core Anglosphere, I don't understand why that name was controversial, I felt like it wasn't that serious, etc. and on one Discord server we got a small debate about it between Americans and non Americans. But if they are US audience and using the US culture I understand they would change it if reactions were negative.

Moreover the recent MV, pretty dark, added with that other dark Santa Claus song, it's surprising, unusual, they are trying something different for sure so you'll like it or not.

It's not surprising but with her case this confirmed even more that being an K-pop idol will come with abuse and mistreatment because of the working culture, the different standards, etc. You can't import the Korean working way in the West, it won't work because the laws are different and most of the Western trainees won't be willing to go through such a harsh environment.

A topic I wanted to talk about because those who wanted to boycott the group on SNS like X are giving them even more engagements. I've never seen so much posts about Madein from them these past days. They forgot what boycott mean ?
However it's mostly international fans who are doing it so the impact isn't noticeable, on the Japanese side it's like nothing happened, on the Korean side it's maybe mixed but it's hard to tell.

Bad news : the guy being accused by Gaeun is still in charge, he was spotted with the 3 members who came to Paris, obviously the reactions were heated, not good. But it's X, so a pretty small bubble.

A topic I wanted to talk about because those who wanted to boycott the group on SNS like X are giving them even more engagements. I've never seen so much posts about Madein from them these past days. They forgot what boycott mean ?
However it's mostly international fans who are doing it so the impact isn't noticeable, on the Japanese side it's like nothing happened, on the Korean side it's maybe mixed but it's hard to tell.
