3rd generation is more influential and did more for kpop then the 2nd generation (It is about time someone said this)

The 3rd generation has BTS who made history by being the only kpop boy group to become mainstream and successful in America
The 3rd generations has Twice who revived the Japan hallyu wave back to kpop and making girl groups dominate in album sales again
The 3rd generation has EXO who revived the album sales market back to kpop and became one of the most successful boy groups of all time
The 3rd generation has Blackpink who set records in the America for kpop girl group and has a high status in social media

Also had really popular and influential groups such as wanna one, red velvet, seventeen, got7, gfriend, mamamoo, winner and ikon plus way more

the superior era of kpop that is still going on because it is too strong

Im not sure about this but, i think i will agree with this, sure some of 2nd gen group are influental like snsd bigbang tvxq suju wondergirls kara 2ne1 but we really know 3rd gen kpop are much bigger now than 2nd gen from international perspective due maybe success of BTS, people now aware more about kpop group, So a group who success is more dependant to international fandom is having multiply effect from it, just like metallica blow up and making others checking metal group.

International success are something that 2nd gen are really lacking.

The previous generation spread KPOP more in Asia, whereas this generation (largely due to BTS) did more for kpop outside of Asia.

Now you can argue which generation EXO and BTS are part of (2012-2013 is kind of in between gens), but for BTS in particular they only got popular in this gen.

Hardly comparable without considering how the times have changed. Nowadays it's way easier to get information around, as we have many platforms (such as youtube and twitter) that have worldwide reach and are the basis for the 3rd success across the globe and the recognition of k-pop outside of asia..

We don't know if this would have happened without what the 2nd gen accomplished, and they accomplished it in an era that was much harder to get the word around since these platforms weren't as widely used as they are now. Kinda pointless to try and take away their achievements like that considering the groups themselves respect older gen groups immensely and have them as role models..

I would suggest that gen1 artists H.O.T and S.E.S With their entry into Chinese and/or Japanese markets opened the door. Gen2 groups like SNSD, TVXQ, Kara, 2ne1, Big Bang and others then built a platform for the Gen3 groups to walk out on and be seen. Gen3 groups like BTS and BP are now building a bridge for future generations to walk across. :)

It's hard to even compare because times are so different, 2nd gen used to be on variety shows, they were more known to the public and had way more active solo projects, the new generation is less active on variety shows but have their own social media following and their own platform to show their personalities like youtube, vlive etc the new gen mostly focus on group promos and they have more concerts than the 2nd gen groups did even groups that are not that popular are still able to hold concerts and even tour the world.

2nd gen paved the way, 3rd gen reopened doors and made their own way

different times, different generations, not comparable
