Shimizu passed the Hello! Project Kids audition when she was 10 years old in 2002. She later debuted as the captain of Berryz Kobo in 2004. When Berryz Kobo went on hiatus in 2015, she graduated from Hello! Project, but became the 'Hello! Project Ambassador'. She was involved in the formation of Kobushi Factory and Tsubaki Factory.
In addition to announcing her marriage, Shimizu revealed that she would be ending her management contract with J.P Room when she turns 30 years old in November and retire from showbiz. She commented, "I was able to come this far thanks to my fans and persons concerned who have always supported me warmly. Although my time is limited, I hope to repay everyone as much as possible."
