Sexy Zone Leads Japan Hot 100 as Official HIGE DANdism Continues to Dominate Streaming

Sexy Zone's "Kirin no Ko" soars to No. 1 on this week's Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated Oct. 21 to 27, as streams for Official HIGE DANdism's "Pretender" hit the 6 million mark for the first time.

Sexy Zone's "Kirin no Ko" soars to No. 1 on this week's Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated Oct. 21 to 27, with 161,590 copies sold in its first week.

The new single -- currently being aired as the theme song of a drama starring member Shori Sato -- fell short of the group's previous single, "Karakuri darake no Tenderness" (166,179 copies), but the Johnny's boy band's loyal fans have been tweeting their support and "Kirin no Ko" has been faring better in this metric (three weeks at No. 1).

The song is also off to a better start in look-ups, which counts the number of times a song has been ripped to a computer.




After ruling the Japan Hot 100 on its 27th week on the chart, Official HIGE DANdism's "Pretender" slips back to No. 2, but streams for the song increased again and hit the 6 million mark this week (6,189,365) for the first time.




"Yesterday" falls 2-4 and "Shukumei" drops 4-5, but both also added streams to last week's figures, and the three tracks by the piano pop band continue dominate the top 3 spots on the streaming list.

King Gnu's new song "Kasa" has revived the band's long-running hit "Hakujitsu," which returned to the top 10 on last week's chart. The song rises 8-6, coming in at No. 4 for streaming (3,626,757 streams) after HIGE DAN's top 3 tracks, and also added video views to last week's figures (from 2,560,096 to 3,327,795 views). As the end of this chart year looms, the hits of 2019 are regaining traction and climbing back up the tally.




The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups and audio streams from Amazon Music Unlimited, Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOX, LINE MUSIC, Rakuten Music, RecMusic provided by Gfk Japan, as well as dHits and Uta Pass, and karaoke data from Daiichikosho and XING.
