I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in all the Soju, but since this isn't about a celebrity (unless Yoichi is considered one?)

But since our Anime Club's most recent anime was Blue Lock I wanted to share this here.

On Christmas eve, a week after Blue Lock's Season 2 finale, a Blue Lock fan held a wedding ceremony for her and the character Yoichi:

This girl is what people would consider to be a Yume Joshi.

Yume Joshi yumejoshi (夢女子) , which translates to "Dream/Dreaming Girls", are girls who like to dream and fantasize about shipping themselves with a character usually to an extreme amount. These girls like to make or commission fan art/stories into things with the character either as themselves (like a Y/N) or with an original character. They also can get pretty extreme, with many of them treating the relationship as a real relationship and and getting jealous/aggressive towards other people who share the same "husband/boyfriend".

(While not all Yume Joshi are like this, and I am not sure to what extent this girl is at, I just want to shout out a lot of them can get this extreme).

This girl, who's name and face is kept anonymous, held a wedding ceremony with Yoichi Isagi at a wedding venue in Osaka complete with a life size cut out of him, rings, a wedding dress, and a cake which she baked and decorated herself!

Since a lot of people ask about this, the girl is currently 19 and Yoichi Isagi is around 16-17.

The wedding is of course not a real wedding or marriage, just one in spirit.

I also want to shout out that while the tweet says what she is doing is part of "Oshikatsu" culture, that is incorrect.

Oshikatsu (推活), which translates to "favorite" and "activity", is the act of strongly supporting someone or something you really like. It can range from anime/manga characters, actors and celebrities (Kpop fan culture is probably a good example of this), cute characters such as Sanrio ones or the one that's been all the rage lately Chiikawa.

Oshikastsu fan activities usually include stuff like ita bags, those big birthday party tables people post on social media, fan pages, etc. Something extreme like holding a wedding ceremony for yourself and a character is Yume Joshi culture.

The internet is a bit divided on this girl's wedding to Yoichi Isagi. Some people think this is innocent and harmless and think this is funny. Other people are deeply disturbed by this and think it's crazy.

I wish I could find the tweet again but I believe the girl deleted it, but a lot of people were praising the cake she made! It was impressive!

The hate train for this girl from oversea anime fans got extremely crazy though and the girl had to take down her marriage post to Yoichi Isagi and post an apology on twitter in both Japanese and English:

While I have seen many Yume Joshi people go above and beyond in their marriage to an anime character, I honestly don't think this girl meant too much harm? I feel bad she is getting such a hate train.

What are all of your thoughts on this?

Also, I feel like almost everyone at some point had an anime, manga, or video game character who was their "anime husband/wife". If you are up to sharing, what was yours?

I am a huge black butler fan so when I was younger I loved Snake (Yana you will catch my hands :knifeduck:) and Ronald Knox.

As an adult, Chikage from A3! is my man, and Moriarty or James Bond(e) from Moriarty the Patriot
(As a disclaimer I am of course not saying this too seriously. :lurk2:)

Kuroo would be my top choice. If not him, then Sesshoumaru, though he's already married. Good thing he has two hands, so he can hold hands with both me and Rin!
Then there's post-time-skip Sherlock from Moriarty. I would marry him simply bc he's hot. The author gave him one hell of a glow-up
