Hello! It's almost time for this year's BTS festa and it has been a hot mess so far.

For those who don't know, the BTS festa is a yearly event that celebrates the anniversary of BTS's debut.

This year's BTS festa celebrates the group's 11th anniversary and the return of Jin from the military.

BTS festa hasn't even begun yet, but there has already been two major causes of backlash that have angered fans. The first being Jins hug meet and greet event, and the second being the terrible merch designs.

1. Jin's Meet and Greet

It was announced that as per request from Jin, at this year's bts festa he will hold a meet and greet where people can enter a raffle and 1,000 winners can greet him with a light hug or a handshake if you do not like hugs.

This is part 1 of a 2 part Jin event. In part two 3,000 people who won through a raffle can watch Jin do various performances to showcase his talents.

Hybe also clarified that "we will take all necessary precautions to ensure safety and prevent any concerning or unfortunate situations during the event" so nothing weird happens during the hug event. You also are not allowed to take photos or film videos.

If you did not win the raffle, you could buy a weverse membership in order to view a livestream of the second part of the event. Fans were pretty upset over the paywall to view the stream.

The first backlash came from the wording used for how to enter the raffle. The original wording left fans thinking that one would have to buy ALL bts albums including solo albums from the shop to enter. This is a lot of albums, so obviously fans were upset.

Fans were also upset over the fact that a lot of people have already bought these albums and felt that prior purchases should be counted. How it originally stood is that there was a specific timeframe you had to purchase the albums in for it to count, prior purchases could not count.

To my understanding, the more albums you buy the more entries you have, and whoever buys the most albums wins.

Here is the exact wording from Weverse:
Please note that the number of albums you ordered on weverse shop GLOBAL (not the number of orders you placed) will be counted automatically to let you enter the raffle the same number of times. For album sets, the total number of albums included in the sets will be counted toward the raffle entries.
※ For customers who meet one or more conditions 1) and 2), the total number of purchased albums will be automatically combined for raffle entry. Winners will be selected based on the total number of albums entered into the raffle.

Hybe later updated on weverse that in order enter the raffle you would have to buy a copy of Jin's The Astronaut to be entered in part 1 of the Jin event, and could buy any bts album that was made after their "Proof" album including solo albums to be entered in part 2. Album Vinyls and Weverse Albums would be excluded.

They also changed that prior purchases of any of the qualifying albums could be counted, but they did not change the rule that the winners would be chosen based on the multiple entries one has.

Here is Hybe's official response:
We apologize for the previous unclear notice and our failure to set detailed application criteria in advance. We will revise the criteria to include both those who purchased after the offline event notice was posted on the Weverse Shop detail page and those who had previously purchased albums from the Weverse Shop. We will carefully discuss and announce the detailed plan as soon as possible.

We will do our best putting the event together so that Jin’s heartfelt sentiments can be conveyed to the fans. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and ask for your continued support and interest in Jin’s offline event on June 13 - Bighit Ent.

2. Terrible Merch Designs:

The second backlash Hybe is currently facing is over the designs over the merch, which many fans feel are very lazily design.

As of right now the BTS Festa 2024 merch is various items in which you can customize with a logo of your choosing.

The merch is also quite expensive, with the phone case being around 20 USD, the T-Shirt being around 45 USD, and the hoodie being around 90 USD. You also can not order and ship the merch to your home, it's pick up at the BTS Festa event only.

A lot of people are finding the member's logos to be badly designed and feel like this merch is just lazy:

With being Hybe's biggest group and BTS being around for now 11 years, fans were expecting much more effort being put into the merch. Especially due to the prices.

So far this is all the news on the 2024 BTS festa, now we wait for June 13th which will be the day of the event.

What do you think about BTS's 2024 Festa so far?

As a BTS enjoyer since 2014, I think they're ill-prepared for this Festa. Largely due to the unavoidable situation of the group's military hiatus leading to a lack of content.
As for the lottery drama. I see it as a non-issue. Most of the people in the running won't win the lottery anyway. so it's pretty stupid.
However, I do think the complaint re: part 2 of the Jin event is valid.
For the member logos. They're legit the fonts/logos from the members' official branding/album designs. So I don't see how they're badly designed...

The 'Festa' logos are cute. But that big ass logo of solid colour on the back of the shirt is atrocious.

I'm mostly excited for another official Bang Bang Con & JK's upcoming solo release.
