I thought it might be of interest to all to see how kpop companies performed in the stock market this year. I have screenshot the charts of the "big 4" as well as two other smaller companies which have listings. All the data begins on January 2nd and ends December 30th 2024 KST(market closed Dec 31st and Jan 1st). Everyone is listed alphabetically to avoid any favoritism.
[This is the tldr part:]
Under each I will include valuation of the stocks in Korean Won at the beginning and end dates. B = Jan 2nd and E = December 30th. Just in case any are interested Hybe is a member of the larger KRX and the others trade on the smaller KOSDAQ.
The red negative percentage shown on the upper part of each chart represents the loss in valuation of each as none ended the year in positive territory.
Hopefully 2025 will see green plus percentages.
I should point out that the stock value does not necessarily represent the income of each company but how the company is perceived by those who buy stocks as an investment. Generally stocks in positive territory are those which people are buying for future gains and those in negative territory are being sold off potentially at a loss to avoid any larger losses of initial purchase costs.
The chart of each for the year.

What happened to YG for them to freefall so fast Q3/4 :oxygen:
They had a profit deficit and were showing red ink. I think that tanked them in a lot of investor's minds. The recent revenues from 2ne1 concert tour have buoyed them up somewhat. A comeback is not at all out of the question if more positive financial news comes in the new year.

idk anything about stocks but it's interesting that JYPE's was quite stable (relative to the other examples)
It had the least extra issues amongst the big 4. The other had various things impact their business.
Hybe with it's failure to acquire SM and the open fight with MHJ.
SM being bought by Kakao which has business problems involving the government.
YG just general financial concerns.
JYP was just lucky. Made a profit and mostly avoided conflicts that might affect valuations
