He was mostly known for being England Manager for 5.5 years but despite the players he had we couldn't build a team and do something with them.
Mostly because the players at that time were more focused on their club than weren't as much involved with the national team. Moreover the relationship between players from Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, etc. weren't great. Rivalries weren't the same. Nowadays it's much more peaceful and part of why Southgate could've reached the Euro final twice and WC semi once.
Tactically Eriksson never wanted to change his 4-4-2, the midfielders he had never worked that well despite having Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard, Carrick, Hargreaves, etc. because he wanted two forwards.
2002 and 2006 could have left some regrets
2002 because Brazil went down to 10 men and if Brazil was eliminated the path to the final was clear
2006 Rooney got sent off then lost to the penalty shoot outs against Portugal. The same ones who already beat them the same way in 2004.
Otherwise Eriksson was successful with Lazio and with Benfica
Rest in Peace
