Former AKB48 member Atsuko Maeda's performance in To the Ends of the Earth has chosen by Slant Magazine for their list of the 20 greatest film performances of the year. She's makes the list as the only Asian actor and the only non-Anglophone actress. To the Ends of the Earth features Maeda as Yoko, a tarento that travels to Uzebkistan for TV work. Her sensitive portrayal has garnered praise from various critics.
