If teasing starts too early I tend to lose interest in the release. It was one of the reasons I never got into Loona.

Do you think a company can start teasers too early? If so, what would you consider too early?

Being a big gamer, where the trend now is a CGI trailer for a game that might release in 3 damn years, I've never encountered this issue in kpop tbh.

What part of Loona's pre-release process do you mean exactly? Because girl of the month was iconic! :omgwhat: And ultimately the ridiculous expense the group could never recover from, but still!

See, I don't even bother with video game teasers. I only tune in after the release :palcry:

Girl of the month was awful to me. All I saw was dollar signs every time they released and the anticipation. After a while I just dipped. :palcry:

Me watching an animated short that is in no way representative of the final product, and doesn't even give a release YEAR.

Awwwww, I loved girl of the month! Even if you could physically SEE the expenses catching up with them, as the shooting locations got less and less far flung.

Me too! to me a game doesn't exist until it's out in the stores
like wdym you're waiting for the next big videogame company event where they MIGHT announce the game that doesn't have a release date yet...

For K-pop, I think given how saturated the industry is teasers can certainly be released too early, and to share an example I'll use WJSN.

Starship announced on June 3 2022 that WJSN would release new music in July 2022, and a schedule was shared on June 8 that it would be released as a "special single album". In my opinion, I would argue that there's no compelling reason for why Starship couldn't have released all of the contents related to the release in the space of a week, and to have some "image teasers" and "mood shots" released on the same day. In the end, the song came out on July 5 2022, but considering the lackluster rollout, I would say any hype for it was already lost.

Jpop sometimes does 1 to 3 months ahead and it can be forgotten without a poke.
I was going to mention waiting months for releases but I refrained since it was the Korean discussion section. But yes, I used to follow H!P heavily and the music videos would be released about a month before the actual single.

Right, this is a good example!

ARTMS' Dall rollout annoyed me so much....they released the first pre-release track in March, but the actual album wasn't out until May and by then, I was already over it all.

JYPE is also notorious for really long teaser rollouts, although I think they've gotten better than they used to be about that, at least with the groups I pay attention to from them.

Anything more than two weeks maximum (comeback announcement to album release) usually has me bored, especially when the teasers aren't very engaging or intriguing.
