I'm a paranoid mofo. Knowing that, I try to control these impulses. I don't believe it will be doomsday or stuff like that. However, I'm afraid it will just become part of our lives. For instance, I lived in Brazil during the 80s and mid 90s which was prone to stuff like Malaria, Cholera, and lot of other unpleasant diseases (and still is). It's part of Brazilian life to be automatically mindful of this sorta stuff. I imagine that this could just be added to an increasingly list of diseases we have to be mindful in our daily lives like influenza.
The core of my family from my mother side lives in Daegu which is one of the epicenters of this outbreak. Luckily for them they live more on the isolated mountain area and don't subscribe to any big church in the area (as cultists will infiltrate to recruit). For now it seems they are fine.
Also, the way the USA is dealing with it isn't assuring at all. People around me seem living their lives normally, but slowly worry is creeping in. Personally I'm stocking canned goods. Luckily I have masks ready not for this situation per se and have protective gear for painting and working with aerosol.
I'm curious on how this is affecting everyone here on personal level.

Not much tbh. All the cases in my place have all been quarantined or even recovered. Growing up, my country was prone to a lot of diseases and pandemic too, but everything turned out fine eventually, so I'm trying to keep things positive. I have a bunch of face masks and sanitizer with me just in case though.

I know some of my fellow countrymates were stockpiling food just a few weeks back and many peoples in my country are trying to get as many masks as they can.
But me? I don't think that overworrying will help much. It just added more stress to your body which in term affect your immune system. While the virus infection rate can be alarming, there is also a high chance of recovery (My country have 90+ infections, 60+ who have been discharged from the hospital). Although if you have underlying health problems which will affect your chances of recovery.
I think that if we can overcome SARs back then, we can also overcome the Coronavirus sooner or later. I am just going to live my life normally-We should be practicing good hygiene always anyway.

No difference so far. I'm already a very hygienic person and that's the only thing i can do right now. Also i'm not really in the risk group. I know that might sound kinda selfish, but i can't really do anything.
It isn't. I'm living my life normally.
Maybe I should be worried due to my immune system being crap, but eh.

I work at a pharmacy so I'm stocking up on meds just in case so If i die i wont be in pain but the death rate is like 2/10 so far so I'm not too too worried.

Well, I live in a country that hasn't had any confirmed cases yet, so not so much. I've been trying to stifle any misinformation and paranoid propaganda I come across, but people like to panic.
Idk, I lived through a big new strain of Influenza epidemic some years ago in my country, and everyone also thought it was the end of the world back then. I'm not saying people should take this lightly, but treating it is if it's some sort of zombie outbreak that will bring about the end of the world is not good either. My father kept comparing this to the black plague of medivial times...That's the kind of bullshit people listen to the most.
Afaik, a vaccine is on the works, and while it will not be available in a matter of days, it will be made publicly available within a few months. Meanwhile, people should do the upmost to keep a higher than normal hygiene routine and avoid taking unecessary risks.

Nothing changed for me. The coronavirus isn't a serious thread for me, other diseases or accidents kills more. Of course if you are already a vulnerable person the virus can be dangerous, not my case. Then i'm living in a country where the health system, even if it have many problems, is great compared to other countries. It's only because it's new for us and we know less about this virus, but it isn't killing thousands of people every weeks.
If it was Ebola for example, things would be different.
But that doesn't mean don't care of course. Washing hands and coughing into your elbow/hands (then wash them) is still the best way to take care.

The other day a client of mine suddenly thanked me for being kind to her, and said how people have not been too nice lately perhaps due to the stress from virus, economy etc. I did notice some panic going on around my workplace as well, nothing too severe atm.
Would be a lie to say I'm not worried. I get anxious easily, but I try to not let it get to my head too much or affect my day-to-day functions, especially since there's only so much we can do. As for precaution, I do try to eat healthier to maintain good health and immune system. Wash my hands more often. Try to stay away from the crowd, which is something I've always done anyway.
Really hope things will start to look up soon for everyone.

I work in health care, so it is definitely affecting work. I was also planning to go to CIX's fan meet but it was cancelled. Waiting for my refund. And my scheduled vacation is late spring. I wanted to go to travel internationally but that's no longer going to happen. Not to mention the increased discrimination and negativity about people who look like me. So: A lot.

Anyway to reply to OP:
for me I'm only concerned for my parents since they are at the age of the risk in getting infected (not that they have respiratory system, just immune system could be weak).
Also, my family members are not like my fellow country people, my family are not in the panic state. Plus, my sister who is not working on the front line but working near the hospital, mentioned that most of my country doctors believe, the virus will die down in Mar/Apr. So we believe we can overcome this virus.
I understand why you being paranoid, but just like all country's health ministry mentioned, have a proper hygiene & healthy lifestyle. Wash your hands, drink more water. It can be psychological stressful to us as we tend to be paranoid when we thought we might be infected when we show some symptoms. Just monitor your illness, stay at home, wear a mask when visting the doctor, don't run around/play hero when you are sick.
For now, we only can wait & give time for researchers to find the vaccine since the WHO are more worried is discharged patients getting re-infected since so far 2 countries are showing have patients being re-infected.
The only part the virus affected me is not being able to proceed my Korea plan, but glad I haven't book the ticket. So now praying for it to die down by summer

So you from SG?
Yup. I am probably one of the few peoples in our country who are not that worried. Just worried for my parent and grandparent whose immune system is not as strong.

My mom is an avid churchgoer. Recently she got her ankle sprained, so she avoided going to church this entire month luckily. Her church is pretty big with attendants going in and out States all the time, so she will be avoiding going to church for the time being.

I guess is a good choice. Even my mum being a Buddhist , she also minimise her activities at the temple. Actually is up to personal decision. They don't have to feel bad about it. I feel as long as her heart has god. she can do her prayers at home.My mom is an avid churchgoer. Recently she got her ankle sprained, so she avoided going to church this entire month luckily. It’s not affecting me at all, it hasn’t spread to my area and the closest confirmed case is pretty far away from me even tho there’s been a couple cases in my country. Hmm but i do go a little farther with hygiene than normal just as a precaution

I'm not worried about the virus where I live. However, I am concerned about countries with friends and favs that have high counts of infection. Personally I just make sure to follow things I already try to do in winter flu season like wash hands, cover cough, good nutrition/sleep, etc.

NuguI wanted to move into an underground bunker two weeks ago, so at this point my anxiety is quite high
Personally, the only thing keeping me sane is the fact that i do believe they will develop a vaccine. I just dont know if poor people will even be able to get it. I do have insurance, so I feel like I will be able to get it...probably...maybe....
I am relatively healthy but I kinda have a weak constitution so I assume if I get it I'll just die. So I plan to order groceries in and never go anywhere for the next two months so that I can remain safe. So I guess you could say I'll be enforcing a self imposed quarantine if it comes to my city
