"I don't listen to kpop I listen to WUJUPOP!" That's WJSN obviously
I'm sure you've seen it! Don't lie to me . Lol we have all seen it and I'm sure some have thought it.
Well I have to say that I use to laugh about it because for many years I really did love many groups and songs. But now? Uh I have to say half of the groups I use to love back in 2018 are either disbanded, in their veteran years which means less things to do or in some of the famous ones just meh. SO what has been the direct effect(that was a show once) of 3rd generation die ing out? Well now I pretty much only pay attention to my favs WJSN and my bias Yeonjung.
It's funny a lot of you on here have known me a long time and while I was always a crazy WJSN fan, I also loved a lot of kpop over the years... I think it's kinda hard for me because most of my favs are now in twilight hours and I don't really like new kpop because it's the same but worse in so many ways lmao. It use to be hard for me to outright dislike gg songs but now it happens all the time, I just don't like the music 3/4 of ggs make. Sad for me because during 2nd and 3rd gen I liked probably 80-90% of gg music.
Basically completely different to when I got into kpop
Anyways all that has made me a WUJU pop fan and honestly I don't feel weird thinking or saying it, because at this point what groups are sounding like my favs? Eh not many. 3rd gen cosmic sound with their musical progression with their specific disco/80s retro cosmic sound that is all over their bsides, etc. You can do that for Dreamcatcher easily, no one sounds like them. Tbh, I feel like the more groups there are it will only get worse of following whatever popular new trend, which sadly hasn't been to my taste for a while
However I still will check to see if something will really draw me and things have been very sparse for me, I do like Ive so I'm waiting to see how their cb is

Sica finally coming to a revelation that we've all known about her for like 3 years
Ehhhhh, the scope of groups I really genuinely follow has shrunk a lot past couple years. Either through nugus dying out, concept changes that i'm not in to, or just plain losing interest. I've had a real hard time getting in to any of the new gen groups, the music is either bat shit weird, or copy paste generic girl crush... zzz
I still try to check basically every release out when I can, but typically very little grabs me. Currently fingers crossed for the Purki comeback, time to see if they've joined Weeekly in abandoning their fantastic initial sound, or if memeM was a one off that I can pretend just didn't happen.

Same tbh like I feel fortunate that WJSN and DC are here but I miss the other groups I would listen to like Lovelyz or the post IOIgroups, it's lonely compared to how it use to be
Yeah tbh that's the thing is that in 2018 I remember loving so many gg songs and bg ones too lmao. Now its WJSN and a very select few groups that I will watch their mv again, because most just arent what I like especially compared to the genre I use to like lmao

I agree so much! Like I don't care at all about what goes viral really, a lot of the music just isn't good like it was. Objectively, the noise and girl crush sound has ruined most groups potential to ever appeal to to me. I just don't find it interesting at all.
the non music part has become so massive that as a fan I just feel like they've lost the plot, they'll try and squeeze all that they can out of the popularity but really things have definitely changed. I just don't find a lot of the music good now
