The idol of idols, my husband Lee Taemin 
I don’t feel like they are an exact comparison, I know IU gets more music show wins and stuff and probably has more selling power for CD’s, though I feel like Taemin probably has more selling power for concerts, especially internationally.
Getting Taemin tickets is not possibly without a fan club membership he sells out that fast (I’m scared for the US tour next year
). I know IU’s concert ticketing is not as aggressive.
Taemin’s the only male kpop soloist who could probably sell out a whole stadium tour (other than maybe BTS members) very easily, so it’s because of stuff like that in which I think Taemin’s probably the closest we have to the male version of IU.

I don't consider IU as an idol so her closest male counterpart would be Lim Young Woong.

Definitely Lim Youngwoong if he can maintain what he's at. He's still a very new artist in comparison to IU.

NuguI agree that he is doing a lot well but you can't really say that he is one of the most successful male solo.

I also sort of disagree with lim youngwoong here due to the fact that he doesn’t seem to have the biggest variety in terms of fans base like IU.
IU is loved by pretty much everyone of all ages, isn’t her nickname “south Korea’s daughter” or girlfriend or something?
I know in terms of selling power and music show wins in know lim youngwoung is a beast, but as far as I’m aware I don’t think he has many young fans? I was always told it was because he has a lot of Ajumma fans due to being a trot singer and they have strong voting/buying power?
He also doesn’t really have an international fan base like IU either, whenever he’s killing charts on music shows everyone on twitter’s always like “who is this guy and where did he come from”

I Agree with you and i even said it above that we still can't compare him with IU. He is good but he is not as successful as IU and Lee taemin.
