The coronvirus seems unstoppable. In Europe and in my country that is located in the northern hemisphere, the cases are just going up and up. My country is in a half-lockdown similar to what China did at the moment Why isn't the world united in this global pandemic? I think if we worked together and combined resources, we can overcome this mess....
BlessMeAchoo
Excuse My CharismaSadly there are selfish people in every country, so regardless there would be people who refuse to isolate and spread it around.
The fact that this likely won't be over for months or even years makes it even scarier tbh

Where are you from? How old are you?
You probably don't have to be too worried about yourself, as the risks to you are most likely small. But it helps to be careful, mostly for the sake of the community as a whole and in particular for those who are extra vulnerable.

I live in Norway in Europe and my age is 23. Still, I've heard the WHO said young people could be severed sick of this disease. Norway population is just 5 million but we have 2000 casesWhere are you from? How old are you?

I see. Well, it's true that young people can get severely sick but the mortality rate is very low unless you have pre-existing conditions. There is no use in worrying about the disease. My tip is to try to keep a positive attitude and not completely shut yourself down. Go outside, but keep a distance to other people. Sleep and eat well, wash your hands. You should be fine. If you live in Oslo (or Trondheim/Bergen/Stavanger maybe, idk how densely populated those cities are) then you're a bit more likely to run into people but you also probably live in an apartment and it's important for you to get some fresh air at times. If you live in a more rural area/in a house, then you can freely spend time outdoors in a garden/in nature without any worry of getting infected.I live in Norway in Europe and my age is 23. I'd suggest being a bit careful of going to restaurants, the gym and stores with many people. But overall your chances of getting seriously ill are low. If you only shop stuff every once in a while (maybe once a week or every two weeks), then you shouldn't have to worry.
Edit: obviously stay at home if you have symptoms, especially coughs/fever. There are too many people who seem to think it's fine to go outside and sometimes even shop when they have a cough, it pisses me off.

As far as I know most of Norvegians live in big cities so it's easier to get infected. I know, it's not very uplifting but at least (unlike England or Spain) your government is doing somethind to prevent virus spreading.

it is very dire.
i think im gonna do fine since i have some money saved and i live in my family home paying virtually nothing, but i don't know what i would do if i was living in a though financial situation.
I left my house once in three days, which was to go to the office to get an internet cable so i can continue working from home.
I am not planning on leaving my house until i am forced to go back to work at the office or u know if anything happens.

This isn't the end of the world. This is just our new reality. It was foretold by epidemiologists years ago even before SARS. Coronavirus is just SARS 2.0 less lethal and with more contagion capability. At this point with the general botched response of the Western countries, this will mutate and continue on.
Buckle up and watch what the scientists and specialists have to say. Ignore the media who is profiting for this. You as an individual can't succumb to fear and anxiety cause by this crisis. Stay informed and follow proper protocol.
Now why the world isn't united? You need to backtrack a bit. Nationalism and populism were on the rise. International alliances were falling apart (notably EU x USA , NATO, and Brexit). With this we elected lot of opportunists, political panderers, or mediocre politicians. Also the looming recession shaped politics around the world. Every country was trying to leverage with each other with more conflict in detriment of international cooperation.
So we have to basically make do with inefficient leaders. Countries that are doing pretty well just elected more competent people. It doesn't matter which type of politics, level of corruption, and so on. They had better people at the top. When the real crisis hit the fan, we see the true colors of the top.
In the end of the day this is just reflection of the people who allowed them to take power. Democracy or not, it doesn't matter. We got mediocre politicians because we are as a society became mediocre. This is showing as a lot of people are acting like SK patient 31. Getting infected and spreading it with no care. Sadly the politicians at the top know this and don't trust the public and act like we are dumbasses which doesn't help with unity.
You can't get cooperation on a world scale with these factors. Still countries individually are helping. I don't need to list them all. If you are cynical, it may be for leverage later, but you don't judge an extended hand during crisis.
The virus just revealed the cracks of our current reality. Climate change crisis is a more concerning matter and countries can't get together.
Sadly we as a whole humankind need to take hard lessons to move on. WW1 and WW2 were not too far away in time. The Spanish Influenza is just 100 years ago. I still remember the Cold War.
As an individual you have to do your civil duties and hope for the best. A lot of people also will do the right thing during this crisis and more. Look for the them as inspiration instead of looking at the idiots and think humanity is doomed.

We've been locked down now from this evening for at least three weeks. I've been quite calm about it all so far, but now I'm a bit worried. The impact on the economy is going to take years to recover from, let alone the health situation. Bit bleak really. But at least I've got K-pop to cheer me up.

Yes my country was the second after Denmark to enforce a lockdown. From the numbers I've been reading so far, where I live they have the delayed the spread. I live in Bergen btw and it has a population of 300k people. As far as I know most of Norvegians live in big cities so it's easier to get infected. Thank you for pointing out about nationalism. I think that's the main reason why people are so divided in the west. It all kinda started with Trump with his ''American First'' and then it spread to other countries. This isn't the end of the world. This is just our new reality.
