Johnny & Associates's internal investigation into the sexual abuse by Johnny Kitagawa has recommended that his niece Julie Keiko Fujishima step down as CEO as part of a range of measures designed to avoid a re-occurrence, saying "overall, we found the statement that she 'didn't know' at the time to be a lie". The report found widespread abuse of young men by Johnny Kitagawa from the 1950's up until the 2010's, with his sister, Mary, covering up for him. COMMENT: One big "elephant in the room" is why mainstream Japanese media did not pick up on the allegations by "Shukan Bunshun" in 1999, and largely ignored the BBC programme in March (that Johnny's did its best to ignore), which started off this chain of events. Both Johnny and Mary are now deceased, but the question of the full extent of the abuse and how much the current management of Johnny's were involved in the cover-up may be the result of future investigations, given the level of interest in this, both domestically and abroad.

This is what can happen when one business is allowed to dominate an industry to such an extent. The victims will still be suffering for many decades to come. Truly the company should be dissolved but it likely won't occur because of how huge they are. There are no winners here and very few people will be punished. Sad all around.
