Madame Web
In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing's most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who develops the power to see the future... and realizes she can...

reviews (alternating between "good" and bad ones)
Isn’t going to reverse the ongoing decline of superhero cinema, but unlike some of its notable contemporaries, it’s strong enough to make its intended sequels feel like promises rather than threats. The Film Verdict
Madame Web is a laughable affair. Intentionally so, at times. But for much of its two-hour runtime, the laughs come at the expense of the arguably capable work being put in by its charming lead. AV Club
“Madame Web” is not the unmitigated disaster that its clunky trailer or its calendar spot in February would suggest. RogerEbert.com
It’s too bad because there could have been a more fun movie in here — Clarkson imbues it with a distinctly feminine and teenage energy that makes good use of its soundtrack. But it spins itself into a knot trying to justify a silly story instead. Associated Press
It is the Cats: The Movie of superhero movies. Not a single decision seems of sound mind. Not a single performance feels in sync with the material. Rolling Stone
Madame Web was never going to touch the relatively high-concept, Disney-made Avengers movies... But guess what? Tickets still cost just as much as they would for a more canonical Marvel movie. So why settle for the knock-off? Variety
is shaping up to be the biggest super hero box office bomb
sorry but no matter how seductively Dakota Johnson speaks to me i don't think i'm going to watch it twice (or even once)
anyone else finds this promo kinda weird? no?

I never heard of this movie and that review saying this movie is the superhero equivalent of cats low key scares me…
On the bright side, for some random ass reason they invited the Kpop group The Boyz to the movie premiere??? And I got this gorgeous picture of my bias.
In all seriousness, although I love The Boyz, how bad is this movie that when trying to invite guests to the premiere the best they could come up with was a random kpop group from Korea (who honestly might have been invited the day before/day of due to the fact that they aren’t even promoting this movie )

in all fairness SONY were also behind Morbius so... but yeah seems a common complaint is how female super heroes movies suffer from a lack of directionMy toxic trait is thinking that Hollywood ruins most super-hero movies led by female actresses on purpose
lately most superhero movie has been struggling in the box office i think even with better reception it wouldn't do that well, right now we need to wait for Deadpool 3 to see if people are tired of comic book movies or if they were simply to saturated by the constant releases every other monthso, it's a flop?
even if the reviews aren't it the movie still can be a fun watch! SONY seems to be pursuing a cinematic universe without Spiderman himself but their other characters like Morbius, Madame Web, Venom, etc may appear together in future moviestoo bad i kinda had high expectations
