Movie Review: Birds of Prey
by: meltrosz
I am not really a DC fan, so although some of the characters here like Black Canary or The Huntress are known to any DC fan, I had no idea who they are. I went into this movie just knowing Harley Quinn, but went out loving all of them. The film is set after The Joker and Harley Quinn broke up, and the latter is now hunted by all of her past enemies because she just lost The Joker's "protection". Everyone thought that they could bully Harley Quinn just because she is a girl who lost a man's protection, even Harley Quinn herself believed so. But Harley Quinn proved to everyone and herself that they should also be afraid of her and that she does not need The Joker's protection. The narrator (Harley Quinn) tells the story in a non-linear progression, which not only makes it more interesting to watch but also gives the spotlight to each main character and their backstory. Each character had their own history but in the end, they all resolved their issues and learned to stand proud of themselves. The film is also full of witty comedy and Margot Robbie's acting as Harley Quinn was spectacular.

I'm honestly depressed that they made Renee Montoya 40+ in this adaption considering her relationship with Batwoman, which they'll likely be unable to adapt now, if they ever wanted to before lol, as well as her time spent as the vigilante/superhero The Question. Like can they even adapt some of her most famous storylines now in the DCEU with her being at that age...
Anyway, I'll probably go see it when I have the time later this week!

maybe they'll do it as a flashback but yeah. she's pretty older than the rest.I'm honestly depressed that they made Renee Montoya 40+ in this adaption considering her relationship with Batwoman, which they'll likely be unable to adapt now, if they ever wanted to before lol, as well as her time spent as the vigilante/superhero The Question. It's just.... they're making Batman younger in this Universe, so I'm assuming Kate (Batwoman) will be around the same age, 30-ish, so why destroy all of your prospects to display one of the best lesbian comic book relationships by ageing one of the main characters up so drastically...
Why can't we have nice things
