Article: Who is 'MAMA' holding it in Japan for? Cold reactions

Source: X Sports News via Naver

1. [+5,427, -26] Why are we holding a Korean award ceremony in a foreign country..? In Japan of all places? Our people are boycotting all vacations and tourist visits so 'MAMA' must really think we're idiots to fall for this. Do they have no pride? Do they not think our own country's ticketing power is anything worth considering?

2. [+5,030, -42] Greed will make you thrown your own country away ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

3. [+2,995, -14] Cultural exchange? What a lie. Just say you're holding it there for the money. It's already hilarious to me that we're splitting our own country's music ceremony separately between foreign countries.

4. [+2,572, -444] Any artist who participates in this will be seen as traitors to our country

5. [+1,384, -13] Japan will restrict Korean artists on their own broadcasts but not concerts like this because it makes them money

6. [+596, -6] CJ, if you guys truly wanted "cultural exchange", then you would hold the concert in Korea and have it so that K-Pop fans from other countries have to come to us. Your own people are busy boycotting Japanese products and tourism and yet you call yourselves a big Korean company and dare to throw water all over our efforts like this? I wish a big fandom like BTS would step up and boycott the 'MAMA' this year.

7. [+462, -6] I find this so gross. I understand that people don't want politics involved with this kind of cultural stuff but Japan has such a long history of stomping all over our own culture. It's not possible for me to separate culture and politics.

8. [+396, -3] There are so many people boycotting Japanese tourism, even students who are paying penalty fees to cancel their class trips... what is CJ doing? I'll be boycotting all CJ products from today on out.

9. [+338, -1] It doesn't take much to be a traitor... if you're throwing away your own country for a bit of profit, that makes you a traitor

10. [+334, -1] CJ needs to be added to the list of Japanese boycotts

1. [+3,767, -39] Why is our own country's ceremony being held in Japan? The hosts are trash!!

2. [+3,213, -38] What a weird ceremony... is there a necessary reason that it needs to be held there? There are so many other locations... just why?

3. [+2,483, -77] 'MAMA' is too busy trying to divide up the trophies among the agencies. Aside from BTS, for the past three years, the digital award of the year has never gone to the group deserving of it. Twice never reached the top 10 in the annual chart, they were actually #30, and yet won song of the year for the past three years ㅋㅋㅋ

4. [+101, -3] Is Mnet crazy? They want to hold it in Japan at a time like this? I knew CJ was pro-Japanese when they were training their own Japanese idol group ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

5. [+97, -5] Such a variety of ways of selling your own country off

6. [+83, -5] I hope our country's artists refuse to attend

7. [+74, -3] Any group that attends this will be seen as insane

8. [+64, -3] A ceremony... in Japan... at a time like this?! Are they insane?! But what else would you expect from a company that sells instant rice sourced from Fukushima~

9. [+61, -2] Singers and fans need to boycott this for CJ to stop their pro-Japanese antics. The entire country is participating in a mass Japanese boycott, CJ is only using "cultural exchange" as an excuse for them to make more money. We should not allow a company that cares more about money than their own country to grow any further in our country.

10. [+57, -1] CJ OUT!!!! MAMA OUT!!!!!

1. [+5,427, -26] tl;dr Do they not think our own country's ticketing power is anything worth considering?
- Apparently not.

6. [+596, -6] CJ, if you guys truly wanted "cultural exchange", then you would hold the concert in Korea and have it so that K-Pop fans from other countries have to come to us.
- The rest of Asia has already accepted this "Asian" award is Korean with a few token Asians for "cultural exchange". Koreans should learn to accept it as well.

8. [+64, -3] A ceremony... in Japan... at a time like this?! Are they insane?! But what else would you expect from a company that sells instant rice sourced from Fukushima~
- LOL. I see this a lot on Japan(ese)-related videos, with comments coming from what appear to be Koreans. Seems they like to use Fukushima to get people to stop buying Japanese goods.

6. [+83, -5] I hope our country's artists refuse to attend.
- They would have to stop promoting in Japan first.

4. [+101, -3] Is Mnet crazy? They want to hold it in Japan at a time like this? I knew CJ was pro-Japanese when they were training their own Japanese idol group ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
- This explains some of the anti-JYP comments I saw on Melon....

Korea has pathetic and embarrassing ticket power.

When are you ever going to match Japan on that? Never is the answer. They want to hold it in a place the idols might actually enjoy themselves and draw a crowd.

So keep crying and anticipate a packed crowd.

But seriously, folks...the anti-Japan boycott seems to be growing in SK. So right now, it's not just knetz but a good chunk of the population.
While in a more sinister turn, one driver in Daegu, in the country’s southeast, said his (Japanese) car had been “terrorised by kimchi” after it was found covered with the traditional Korean fermented vegetables. (source) :JudgyDubu:

Japan does NOT restrict Korean artists on their broadcast??? Kpop groups like Twice are still allowed to perform on Music Station.
