they announced their new album "NMB13" and also their first hand shake event in 3.5 years

aside Sayaka Yamamoto i don't know much about NMB48 but they along the other 48 are who popularized the hand shake events, right?

I would say that AKB48 (the main group) popularized hand shake events, but that is selling it short. AKB48 revived female idol industry, made female idol groups mainstream for the first time, and popularized many aspects of idol culture. Handshake events and voting for members using CD tickets are probably the most famous.

NMB48 is their second sister group and is based in Osaka. They have long been known for their sexy and fun (Osaka is home to a lot of comedians) image. Right now they have many members who do gravure, and Nagisa Shibuya is a breakthrough star for her funny comments on TV shows. The center for this song, Mikana Yamamoto (no relation to Sayaka), went viral on SNS earlier but had a hiatus for health reasons and wasn't supported by management. She's shy and a bit weird. Her place in the group was unclear so it was a big surprise that she was chosen as the center for this album.

thanks, i known some basic stuff about AKB but very little about NMB (much less the current version)

of the 48 / 46 groups i only known a handful of members and i'm pretty sure most of them aren't around anymore

i didn't know about her but she is cute!

oh
well i'm just going to pretend they are related :doge:

and off topic but is nice that the restrictions on chants and fans events are being lifted, it was a little weird watching live performances with the audience being quiet
it's not bad, at least it's better than their couple previous releases.
i hope these new gen can bring them back as one of the aces in 48 groups :sanapray:
both the song and video are good! i feel i like NMB48's concept more than AKB48's

Fan interaction will raise performances to another level again, I miss it.
There was also a popular member called Ayaka Yamamoto, also not related :squirtlechristmas:
NMB is also my favourite 48 group even if my favourite members have left by now.
