I suspect there might be more to this, why will he want to cut off contact with his team members all of a sudden and they looked close too. Also he had the meeting on his schedule so fans were sure he was attending and some fans even swear they saw him there. He should have been there though, not the wisest move at this time

The best move. Why would he go to a meeting that was being organized and paid by a LM manager and used by CJ to mediaplay? Daniel not associating himself with Wanna One anymore after breaking away from LM and CJ was a given. He's still in contact with the other boys, they can talk and meet any other time, on their own terms, without media knowing about it. If he had went now, right after his dating "scandal", people would have said he is using them as a PR move.
