March 24th, 2025 (New York, NY):

Following two pre-release singles, "JeLLo (Sleepers)" & "HICCUPS," the Beat Interactive boy group, NEWBEAT, made their official debut with their heavily anticipated first full-length album, RAW AND RAD! Through their decision to depart from the mainstream by making their debut with a full-length album as opposed to the mainstream mini-album debut that is typical for many Kpop acts NEWBEAT is aiming to showcase their versatility and musicality to the world.

When asked about their decision to produce a full-length album, NEWBEAT's Park Min-seok shared that: “Debuting with a full-length album was both exciting and nerve-wracking, but it really allowed us to show all sides of who we are as NEWBEAT. Every track on RAW AND RAD tells a different part of our story, and we hope listeners can feel our honesty and passion in every beat.”
RAW AND RAD in an 11-track album that includes the group's two pre-release singles, "JeLLo (Sleepers)" and "HICCUPS", a CD-only bonus track, along with the two intro and outro songs, and seven additional brand-new songs. The album's title track, "Flip the Coin", addresses how we perceive good and evil through a metaphor of flipping a coin by depicting how differing perspectives can often shape a person's view of a situation. The lyrics include a line inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth: “Fair is foul, and foul is fair.” The album's tracklist additionally includes a song produced by senior Kpop artist Lim Hyunsik of BTOB, "F.L.Y (Fu**ing Lovely, Lonely Youth)", and depicts the feelings of loneliness and beauty associated with youth and the coming-of-age experience.

Jeon Yeoyeojeong's solo track, "Wonder", is an additional standout track from this release. It tells the story of a prom party in the U.S. where a boy serenades a girl, where both are unaware that that they secretly have mutual feelings for the other party. Speaking on his experience of recording "Wonder", Jeon Yeoyeojung explained, “Recording ‘Wonder’ was a really special experience for me. It’s a dreamy, emotional track that captures the feeling of unspoken love and youth. I hope listeners can imagine their own story as they hear it—and feel the same butterflies I felt while singing it.”

Alongside their new album release, NEWBEAT made an appearance on Mnet live at 8 PM (KST) on their Drop the NEWBEAT debut show. The group shared performances of "Flip the Coin", "JeLLo", "HICCUPS", and "F.L.Y" alongside competing in several variety content for their fans to enjoy. NEWBEAT is Beat Interactive's first idol group in 8 years, following A.C.E's debut in 2017. Prior to their debut as a 7-member group, several of the NEWBEAT members took part in music video recordings and performances for their labelmates, A.C.E. The members performed at KCON LA in July and August 2024 as dancers for A.C.E and participated in a busking tour titled HIGH&LOW Donuts, where the members collaborated and performed with multiple dance crews in the U.S. This news was brought to us by Helix Publicity. @Polaris_Tae you are doing good work but I don't like their concept or the visuals of their music videos.

This doesn't even feel like the same company that made ace.

The kids are probably talented and a full album is a bold move but musically it's the end result of a concept and style that was done better by nct at their peak (before sm 3.0) and then parroted successfully by cravity and p1harmony and then (initially anyway) reinvigorated by xikers (before Hongjoong stopped producing for them) that feels like it's been made by an ai given the prompt "swag y2k white boys trying to be 50 cent weird visuals and baggy jeans."

Totally understandable not everyone will like a group right off the bat, and tastes in music vary, but 1. this is a debut, so they'll have more of an opportunity to establish themselves in the future, and 2. This is a sponsored article and I've sent a link to the post to the OG company (Helix) confirming its posting, so pls try not to be too harsh. I personally suggest checking out some of the b-sides if the title wasn't for you. They're vastly different in style. "F.L.Y" & "We Are Young" are fantastic and just my style, while "Wonder" is quite nice too.
