Class! It's a spin-off (of Doctor Who) but it stands alone and only features the Doctor in the first episode (and has a cameo from something else as the big cliffhanger that would have been resolved if it wasn't cancelled ). If you need further convincing, the series is only about eight episodes, there's a really cute LGBT relationship in it, two storylines focused on disabilities and carnivorous cherry blossom. Seriously, please give it a shot. I enjoyed it so much.
