Rock band GIRLFRIEND have announced their disbandment

The news brings to an end a six-year career which started when the quartet were all still in junior high school. In a series of messages posted in Japanese and English on GIRLFRIEND's website, the band said the lockdown-enforced pause in activities had given them the first real opportunity to think about their futures since their debut.
The members didn't drop any hints about what shape any of their future activities might take, but no one indicated they were planning to walk away from the music industry.

that sucks, the first time i heard of them was in a interview they did with SCANDAL, i recall they were pretty close





while i don't think the music industry could be call a walk in the park for anyone i do feel that girl bands always get the short end,
Jrock is already a "niche" genre compared to idols or soloist and girl bands are a niche within the Jrock scene, doesn't helps that the most popular groups are still active... its a struggle for both groups and fans
