An interesting new kpop group will be debuting soon.

Big O!cean, a "deaf" kpop grop, are set to debut next month on April 20th.
They currently have gained
11 thousand followers on Instagram where they post covers of songs.

They also have begun posting song covers on youtube:

Three members have been revealed so far, more members are yet to come.
They are being labeled as the first "deaf" kpop group, but that title is a bit misleading. None of the members are 100% deaf, they are technically hard of hearing.

They aim to "sing" through sign language by incorporating the sign language into their dance moves. They will be using American Sign Language, Korean Sign Language, and International Sign Language.

Their debut will be a remake of GLOW by HOT.

I'm not really sure if all of their songs will be covers? Or if they will have original songs.

Watch out, here comes the Cultural Appropriation brigade.

I dunno if "disability baiting" is a thing, but twitter will make it one.
Watch out, here comes the Cultural Appropriation brigade.
They themselves don’t seem to be calling themselves “the first deaf kpop group”, they are calling themselves a “sign language kpop group”.

Media outlets are the ones calling them a deaf kpop group so I’m not sure if they would/should be held responsible for other people using them as “disability bait” ?

Unfortunately it doesn't matter who's actually responsible, netizens just run with it.

Well that's nice to see, hopefully someone will feel represented by them!
