I actually have some Jpop news today.
I'm going to start this story from the beginning because I believe the context is very much needed here.
Luz is a "Utaite" singer who started out just singing song covers on Nico Nico Douga/youtube and grew into becoming a professional singer. He started posting his song covers in 2010 at the age of 17 and has been singer for almost 14 years.
(I also don't now if this is relevant but I wanted to include this anyway. Luz is mixed, his father is Japanese and his mother is German and Filipino and from America. I know half/mixed Japanese people get a harder time in the industry so I wanted to bring this up.)
Back in January Luz announced that he would be "going on hiatus due to health/mental health matters".
This was a complete lie. Reports very quickly hit the news that Luz was arrested due to drug possession.
His company/label was very quick to drop him and removed all of his music off of streaming services and a lot of music was removed from youtube.
For almost 10 years Luz was the singer for the music group Royal Scandal.
The producer for the group, Kanon69, released a statement saying how betrayed he felt by Luz and the group would now be continuing as 2 people (Kanon69 and Rahwia who is their illustrator). All of their music will now be sung by guest singers and they have currently been working on re-releasing all of their music with new singers.
Other "utaite" he has been friends with have all released various comments on this. Some people released some neutral statements, such as MafuMafu. Others, such as Meychan, criticized him.
Along with Royal Scandal, Mafumafu, Meychan, Nqrse, and may other singers have all said they would no longer be working with him.
This morning This Video was released on Luz's channel
There was a livestream which I missed and it was not saved to his channel. According to Japanese twitter Luz was dressed in a suit and apologized for his scandal.
Based on comments it appears he was released from prison recently?
He released a new personal website.
He will also be holding a comeback concert "REBORN" on December 29th in Shinagawa.
Tickets are 17600 yen (around $115) for VIP or 8800 (around $58) yen for regular tickets.
There seems to be mixed reactions online regarding his quick return to the industry.
