So I guess Amber is consciously pursuing the Mainland Chinese market

Curious what she thinks of the Hong Kong protests and whether she would side with the police...

If she was going to post that 'what a shame to HK' image that all the other Chinese or Chinese heritage idols posted this summer, she probably would have already, so I'm guessing neutral
I'm kind of okay with an American not expressing an opinion on that, I've discussed it extensively but that's because I have a good friend from there and we talk about the protests and Chinese politics regularly

This is such an antithesis to the brand that she's been building up for years as someone who steps outside of the boundaries of social norms. If she was going to do this, she shouldn't have included the LGBT plot in the English version. Like great job distancing yourself from your existing fandom (who mostly support you because you spent years acting as an ally for marginalised groups) for a market that has zero interest in you. I get that the Chinese ent industry is seen as lucrative these days but like :TzuyuKek:

Her Chinese isn't good enough to pursue the mainland chinese market so mayhaps she should just do what she wants without pandering

Those Chinese idols who posted the 'what a shame to HK' image on weibo promotes in China. Amber still seems indecisive about it but once she dives deep into the chinese market, I fear she would have no choice but to be aligned with the One China policy and her American fans would rage. It all depends on how desperate she is for money.

To be absolutely fair to her, censoring was the only way they'd be allowed to put the videos up on mainland Chinese websites... but I can't help but think she's absolutely unprepared for the mainland chinese market.

One one hand she wouldn't have got passed the censors without removing the ending but on the other her whole brand is built on speaking up for marginalised groups and being an ally, she could have just picked another song, wiping away the LGBT part in the MV is not a good look
