Starlight Boys debut group to debut first openly queer boy group member

The controversial survival show Starlight Boys has concluded. The debut group name has been announced as Polarix and it will consist of 9 members:​

• Pentor
• Han Gyul
• Lee Jun Hyuk
• Xu Shi Huan
• Yang Dong Hwa
• Lee Da Eul
• Zai
• Shao Zi Heng
• Xin Che

The group will have promotions in both China and Korea. Chinese promotions will be handled by Idol Youth Ent and it seems their Korea promotions will be handled by Cube Ent.

The group is gaining attention for currently debuting K-pop’s first openly queer boy group member with their maknae Xin Che who has been open about previously having a boyfriend.

Just as a disclaimer
On Twitter they are claiming him to be the first “openly gay” boy group member since he had a boyfriend. Official sources I’m seeing have him listed as “queer”. Since I currently do not know what term he personally identifies with, I’m going to go with the official sources who list him as queer until I see him confirm otherwise.

Xin Che ranked 4th place on the show and was a contestant many fans grew fond/protective of due to his rough upbringing. He has implied in an interview on the show that his parents were very unsupportive and abusive leading him to have to move out at only 14 and support himself. People are really happy that Xin Che got to achieve his dream and debut.

People are also really happy member Lee Hangyul got to debut. Hangyul has debuted a total of 4 times over the 3rd and 4th gen of kpop in the groups IM, X1, H&D, and BAE173. Polarix is currently his 5th kpop group debut.

As of right now there has been no further information on when Polarix will debut.

Apparently Xin Che’s ex BF, they dated when Xin Che was 15-16 and the BF was 21, so people are asking to take the fact that he is queer with a grain of salt since in this situation it seems he was groomed.
