The 8th Annual Idol Music Awards 2019 is a fan-made awards program to showcase the best Japanese idol releases of the year. 1688 people voted for their favorite releases, albums, and groups, from both major and indie/local idol units.

*Groups from Hello! Project are not included in the Idol Music Awards, they will have a separate Music Awards which starts tomorrow.

Voting Rules

• Nominations include songs and albums that were released between December 1, 2018 and November 30, 2019. December 2019 releases are not included in the nomination list.
• For the individual song categories, each voter has 10 points with which they can allocate among 5 songs of their choice. The most points they can give to 1 song is 3 points, and the least points they can give to 1 song is 0.5 points.
• For the album category, each voter has 6 points with which they can allocate among 3 albums of their choice. The most points they can give to 1 album is 5 points and the least points they can give to 1 album is 0.5 points.
• The favorite group category is a singular vote for each voter.

• A total of 1688 people participated in the voting for the 8th Idol Music Awards 2019
• 1409 votes were submitted for the Major Idol Music Category
• 1495 votes were submitted for the Indies/Local Idol Music Category
• 1349 votes were submitted for the Album Category
• 1517 votes were submitted for the Favorite Group Category

• 1282 songs from 158 groups were nominated in the Major Idol Music Category
• 2555 songs from 410 groups were nominated in the Indie/Local Idol Music Category
• 231 albums were nominated in the Album Category
• A total of 568 groups were nominated in the Favorite Group Category

I'd probably also put an Ebichu song first this year, but it'd be Trendy Girl.

Overall this list looks very similar to what I remember from last year, with Ebichu and Sakura Ebis dominating.
