On December 25th, 2024 - Christmas Day - Hwang Hyunjin of Stray Kids, known for his signature and recognizable long hair...
Appeared at SBS Gayo Daejeon having made the executive decision to chop that shit off, debuting his new buzzcut!
It was quite a shock, Hyunjin had gone from his longest hair ever to his shortest in a single day

(Dec 25th)
Despite the initial shock and some grumbling, fans were quickly relieved to see Hyunjin was the same lil' cutie we all know and love, showing his prince-like appearance at Gayo Daejeon!
He confidently posted on Instagram shortly after and everyone was excited for what Namja Hyunjin would show us with his new look!
Because he also dyed his hair after cutting it, many fans quickly dubbed him, "Kiwi", and the kids were quick to join in on the joke
And from then on, Dumpling Hyunjin was no more! It was a new world and a new era for Hwang Kiwi!
I'm just kidding, he's still a smol lil Dumpling, isn't he?
You may be asking yourself what the reason for the buzzcut debut was in the first place? Did the company want Hyunjin to have a new look for the next comeback?
Was Hyunjin secretly preparing to enlist?
Nope, Hyunjin just said he wanted to try something new after a long time!
The staff frankly thought something was wrong with him, LMAO
But the decision was all Hyunjin's! And fans quickly became bigger fans of Kiwi after his striking appearance at MBC Gayo Daejejeon!
But really they enjoyed the kiwi jokes more than anything and Kiwi was happy to oblige
To anyone thinking this was a hyper dramatic change, worry not! In a livestream with I.N, the two former SOPA students recreated some of their iconic school photos, showing that with or without hair, Hyunjin was unchanged!
Unfortunately (or fortunately?), Hyunjin is somewhat of a mythical creature, and his hair grows back extremely fast
And Kiwi very quickly became a lovable, scruffy hedgehog!

As we continue following the tale of Kiwi, it was announced in February that the First Kiwi Pictorial would be officially releasing in March! 
Hyunjin had become a Brand Ambassador for Givenchy Beauty and would be featured in Marie Claire Korea! Making it his first cover with his buzzcut!
Thinks were looking up for our Kiwi!
Then, on February 14th, 2025 - Valentine's Day - Hedgehog would surprise fans by appearing at Stray Kids' 5th Fanmeeting with an entirely new look! Pink Kiwi!
Granted, he had kinda teased us the day before that he was gonna bleach it but I don't think anyone expected pink!
As you can see, Hyunjin was keeping his hair relatively short by trimming it himself~ Hence why he was not a pink porcupine, but a pink kiwi
But Pink Kiwi was very popular!!
Let's take a moment to appreciate him!

That's right, this cool pink Kiwi, while beloved, was only intended to last for the three days of the Fanmeeting
As such, though our time with him was short-lived, pink Kiwi remains a fan favorite even months after the eventual demise

When we last left off, Venomous Kiwi had taken he world by storm! But another new era was set to be upon us! As he prepared to depart Korea for Milan Fashion Week as a Versace Ambassador, Kiwi seemed to revert back to his hedgehog form!
From brown to an almost blonde color again? What did Kiwi have up his sleeve?
Well, all would be answered when Kiwi touched down in Italy and reunited with his mother, Donatella!
Kiwi had gone full blonde!!!
HE MATCHES HIS MOTHER, LOOK AT HIM!!
After what felt like a Hyunjillion years, Kiwi had made his return to blonde hair for Fashion Week!
AND HE LOOKED SO COOL I'M SCREAMING, I NEED HIM IN MY LIFE
Eh-hem... ...Everyone was extremely happy to see yet another new hair color from Hyunjin, but little did we know what the Fashion Show itself had in store for us!
BECAUSE AFTER TEASING AND BAITING US FOREVER...!
Errrm... After fulfilling his promise from many moons before, the long awaited buzzcut with writing on it had finally appeared!
AND IDC WHAT ANY HEATHENS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT, IT LOOKED COOL AF
... Yes, sports fans! Hyunjin was finally given an opportunity to write on his buzzcut, something he said he wanted to do ever since he first cut it! And what better way to draw some eyes for Versace at Fashion Week than being even more of a walking Versace advertisement than usual!
In what Hyunjin would describe as his Joker look, he couldn't stop being praised and photographed at Fashion Week!
AND HE PAINTED HIS NAILS AGAIN, LIKE HE HADN'T DONE THEM IN MONTHS, BROS WE WERE SO BACK

Hyunjin later spoke about how happy he was with the way his hair came out and was grateful the stylists at Fashion Week allowed him to write on his hair since he's been wanting to do it for a long time
As Fashion Week came to an end and Hyunjin returned back to Korea, fans were now seemingly on board with any styling Kiwi decided to do with his buzzcut as it looked like there was nothing he couldn't pull off! The story surrounding the buzzcut continues!

In any case... towards the end of March (because the brown Kiwi era seems to have been recorded before Fashion Week), we once again saw the return of Hedgehog Hyunjin!!!

I MISS HIM EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE, WHYYYYYY
ER-HEM Fans were happily surprised to see that there would be a SECOND Kiwi Pictorial! As Hyunjin would be featured by Marie Claire Korea again for the month of April!
It seems Hyunjin would at least make sure that the biggest Kiwi enthusiasts would have some material to remember him by!
Why do I say that? Well, we may be hearkening upon the end of the kiwi era... On his birthday, out of absolutely nowhere... Black Kiwi was revealed!!!
That's right, with pretty much no warning, and not just a spray job this time, Hyunjin told fans that he dyed his hair black in his birthday livestream! Officially showing it off in public at a Versace Event the next morning!
Many fans were overjoyed, as Hyunjin's black hair has always been a fan favorite!
But it got people wondering, is this the end of the Kiwi era? It would be difficult to write on the kiwi at this point with such a dark color. But the fact that Hyunjin went back to black so quickly had fans wondering if Hyunjin was planning to start growing his hair out again 
At the start of Stray Kids' Latin American Tour, Kiwi had clearly not been cut in a while leading to even more speculation!
It had been just about three months! Was Kiwi ready to ride off into the sunset and allow Coconut Hyunjin to return?
Well, if so, he wasn't going to do it with one last hurrah, as many fans noticed the slit shaved into the kiwi at the Santiago concert! Even until the end, Kiwi would be making a statement!!
And so...what lies ahead for our protagonist, Hwang Kiwi?
