South Korea is remarkably racist. Then again many countries are but S. Korea is surprising given how developed it is as a nation. Part of the problem is the fact that a good chunk of the population is ignorant about other races and cultures. Also many of its citizens place a huge importance on looks and what is considered beautiful is so narrow that anyone who falls out of it is immediately treated as an outcast.

It's not their fault that they're ignorant. They live in a homogeneous country and aren't exposed to different cultures.

I'm not sure how that's surprising to you because being developed =/= less racism. Japan is even more developed than South Korea and they're more xenophobic/racist than South Korea.

It kinda is when their tecnology they have allows them to broaden some horizons, perhaps not the older generation, but the younger generations still have major issues with racism, colorsim and lookism. They’re not an isolated bubble, they (as in the governemt, educational systems and mob beliefs) just don’t make the effort to change.

Well a lot of people agree young generations are more open minded than older generations. They still face issues with racism but at least give them credit for changing

??? No??? EYK have lived in both, Japan is generally less look-ist but more conservative. let's not with the race to see who is worse. Both have things to improve on.
