I feel like I asked this before but this is the biggest debate on Twitter right now so I’m bringing it up again.
Everyone is fighting online on who is considered the “Big 3” for the top 4th gen boy groups and girl groups.
The current debate for the top 3 GG’s are: Aespa, IVE, NJ
The current debate for the top 3 BG’s are:
Stray Kids, TXT, Enhypen.
Others are debating that there is no “big 3” anymore and there’s a top 4/5 etc.
Who do you think are the top groups of the 4th gen?
IMO Stray Kids and Aespa are definitely the #1 top groups of that gen.
I’m honestly not sure how to answer for the top GG’s since so many people are disbanding lately?
For boy groups through, I would personally argue the top 3 are Stray Kids, Ateez, and TXT. I’m not sure if I would put Enhypen up there since a lot of people say they are more popular overseas than in Korea?
I also think a lot of people underestimate Ateez’s popularity.
Who are your group choices?

Yeah, I wouldn't really say there's a defined big 3 anymore, plenty other players have huge groups.
It's definitely Aespa leading the women.for reasons that escape me.
The guys, dunno, but for what it's worth, even I know Stray Kids songs.

Stray kids are killing it right now. They actually beat BTS in terms of US album sales for 2024.The guys, dunno, but for what it's worth, even I know Stray Kids songs.

I know plenty of Ateez too, but I really don't consider them at that level. But I'm a GG stan, so I'm not the best person to comment.Stray kids are killing it right now. They actually beat BTS in terms of US album sales for 2024.

4th Gen era for me : from 2018 to 2024, there's not "clear cut" of course but that's my setting
- For BGs I'd say Stray Kids and TXT, I also hear a lot ENHYPEN being mentionned
- For GGs I'd say Aespa and G-IDLE

Top of tier - Stray Kids followed by TXT.
Tie for 3rd place/ a tier below the first one: Enhypen and Ateez.
I feel like both Enhypen and Ateez are both popular 4th gen boy groups, but they’re both a bit more popular overseas than in Korea compared to Stray Kids and TXT which is popular both.
If I recall correctly for Ateez they were 3rd in the US for album sales behind Stray Kids and BTS, and their US tours have been sold out and a blood bath. They could probably push for bigger venues already and be fine. (Same with stray kids TBH).

NuguPersonally I feel we are still in the 4th generation if not at the tail-end, and I also think that the "5th generation" buzzword that keeps trending is purely marketing. And so, with that in mind I think the top groups of each generation are currently:
BGs - Stray Kids, Ateez, TXT, RIIZE, Plave
GGs - aespa, IVE, NewJeans, (G)I-DLE, Le Sserafim
These artists all have sizeable fandoms and have released songs that charted or continue to chart across various music platforms. Moreover, for some of these groups, they have members who have appeared in various clips or programs that trend or get covered domestically.
