Hello Hallyuplussers! Today we're back with another user interview! This time we're sitting with the forum's favorite duo and the pair that pulled off a successful campaign to sweep the 2024 Golden Pal Award for best duo: @Ddeona Oneul Bame & @Wensuelrene! We'll be learning more about them, how they got into Kpop and their thoughts on each other today! With that all out of the way, let's check out today's interview! ​

Q: Introduce Yourself.
Ddeona Oneul Bame: Hewwo, I'm Ddeona Oneul Bame~

Wenseulrene: Wensuelrene

Q: How did you learn about H+? Why did you join?

Ddeona Oneul Bame: I discovered Onehallyu in late 2014 and joined it in 2015, I think. I was hella addicted to it, like I had 62K posts by the end of it if I remember.

During the Great Catastrophe I.E. the Great Onehallyu Crash of '19, I was forced to find a new home until it came back. I really don't like Twitter, so for a while, I just used Discord and Aeriverse (an EXO Forum that ended up dying after a while) but neither was really like OH so I was honestly just biding my time until they fixed OH.

When OH came back briefly, it still had issues so people started advertising Hallyu+ and I basically joined it as a backup until OH was fixed forever but I wasn't really active at all. New OH lasted for a while but it was never really the same since too many people disliked the toxicity on the site before and never came back. Even I really didn't use it that often anymore because there was no one to really talk to. Then on Christmas a year ago, it shut down for good.

So I ended up coming back to H+ because everyone kept telling us to migrate over. And I still wasn't all that active, I pretty much became active last June and by active I mean I camp in a single thread 24 hours a day but it's better than nothing!

Wensuelrene: I came from Onehallyu in 2019 because it had that huge crash and was malfunctioning constantly. Basically, everyone over there was recommending to join H+ until the site came back so I did. It was only meant to be temporary until the site came back, which it did, but then it shut down forever so now I'm here.

Q: What is your favorite thing about H+?

Ddeona Oneul Bame: The Hyunlix Thread!!

Wensuelrene: I like that it's not super toxic or messy like Onehallyu was. That was truly the only downside to the place, so Hallyu+ is a nice successor.

Q: If you could be another user for a day who’d you be and why?

Ddeona Oneul Bame: @soozie because then I'd OP almost every EXO member's thread

Q: How did you come up with your username?

Ddeona Oneul Bame:

Wensuelrene: Same name from Onehallyu. When I signed up I decided to make my username after some members of Red Velvet since they were one of two groups I joined Onehallyu to follow. I chose Wendy, Seulgi, and Irene since they were my favorites. My DP and signature would focus on Joy and Yeri. I did end up rotating around though. I'm dyslexic so I misspelled Seul as Suel

Q: Who’s your favorite PlusPal? And why?

Ddeona Oneul Bame: Does Pepe count? He just personifies me in every aspect, we need more Pepes on here

If he doesn't count, these two are cuties I guess

Q: Who was your first bias & do you still bias them (and/or their group)?

Ddeona Oneul Bame: I guess you could say my first favorite groups were SNSD and Super Junior but I was young then and didn't really have a bias in the group until much later~ So my first real bias was Luhan when he was in EXO and YETH, I still bias all of them

Wensuelrene: Eunha was my first bias from GFriend, my first bias group. Yes she is still my bias, though now I follow her in VIVIZ.

Q: When did you get into kpop/Asian entertainment?

Ddeona Oneul Bame: I was already kinda into J-POP because of Hamtaro of all things~ I discovered a group called Minimoni through the Hamtaro movies but they were already disbanded by the time I discovered them. I've still watched every shred of content that exists on YouTube for them, which I consider a feat

As for K-POP, MMD (Miku Miku Dance), if anyone remembers that. You basically made these Vocaloids dance and you could download different Motion Datas to make performances. Most of them were Vocaloid songs but one day I heard the Japanese version of Gee and actually thought that was the original song. I heard Bo Beep from MMD, too.

So that was basically how I discovered SNSD and then I found SuJu and the rest is history

Wensuelrene: It was actually Ddeona who got me into K-Pop. She first started showing me videos in our first year of college in 2014. Ironically enough she only really showed me boy groups because that is her preference, but from there I ended up preferring and following girl groups

However, years before getting into K-Pop we were both really into J-Pop. I mainly got into it because I'm an anime nerd and watch a lot of Pokemon and they tend to feature songs by idols. However, the main group I really started to follow was Minimoni after hearing them on Hamtaro as Mini Hamzu. I started getting into the other Morning Musume girls as well. I actually follow the former Minimoni members on Instagram

Q: Who is your bias and bias group(s)?

Ddeona Oneul Bame: Bias: Luhan and Bias Group: EXO

Wensuelrene: Eunha is my bias, my bias groups were GFriend and Red Velvet. Now they are VIVIZ and Red Velvet. My bias in Red Velvet is Wendy.

Q. Favorite kpop/jpop/cpop mv?

Ddeona Oneul Bame: I will have you know this was legit the hardest question on this list, IDK, I feel like I'm not emotionally attached to most MVs as I am to songs or performance videos If I sat down and thought about it, I could probably pick some other ones, but these are the ones I'm going with.

Q. Favorite non-Kpop/Jpop/Cpop artist?

Ddeona Oneul Bame: To be quite honest, I really don't listen to much non-K-POP these days~ I guess if there's a Western Artist whose music I typically always jam to, it's T-Pain. But I don't really go out of my way to listen to non-K-POP.

Q. Which section and/or thread do you spend the most time in (on H+)?

Q. Who has the better taste in kpop? fight!

Ddeona Oneul Bame: ME OFC because I STAN BOPS ONLY

Wensuelrene: I think I have the better taste because I prefer music that is very easy on the ears to listen to. Songs that are very harmonious and lovely Ddeona likes songs that are noisy and not public friendly.

Q. If you could create a band or unit, what would its name be? (asked by biantwo)

Ddeona Oneul Bame: I assumed this question is referring to the two of us , and if that's the case, we would call ourselves "Wenddeona Supremacy"


Wensuelrene: I assumed this question means a hypothetical fictional group, and if so, I'd call it "Lady Elegance"

Q. Top 3 Male Idol Groups and Biases from those groups? (asked by Ddeona Oneul Bame)


Ddeona Oneul Bame: EXO, Stray Kids, Super Junior Biases are Xiumin/Lay, Felix/Hyunjin, and Kyuhyun/Ryeowook

Q. Name one thing you really like and one thing you kinda don't like about each other. :3 (asked by eunnie)

Ddeona Oneul Bame: I like that Wensuelrene is very work-driven and responsible. I don't like that she's super duper uppity and just kinda cringe sometimes.

Wensuelrene: I like that Ddeona is very passionate about her interests. The thing I despise and LOATHE is that she never wants to be on time. I mean she just REFUSES to be on time.

Q. Now that you've run a successful campaign for duo of the year, it's time to run for president! If you could pick anyone on H+ to be your running mate who would it be and why? Also what kind of (Kpop-related) policies would you choose as your key policies (social media team question)

Ddeona Oneul Bame: My running mate would be @Vampire because she's my soulmate.

I would advocate for an Awards Season twice a year because good ass pics be coming out in the middle of the year and I be wanting to change that sht immediately and 365 days is too long to wait for the UPGRADE

Wensurelrene: I would pick @Jibang because we worked well together on Onehallyu and I would advocate for threads to be made more in a general sense to allow for T-POP to be acceptable answers because as the only T-POP stan on this forum, I feel like too many threads cater to K-POP only and I can't plug my bias group BUS because of you i shine.

Q. Do you have any family traditions? (asked by SirTim0thy)

Ddeona Oneul Bame: I can't really think of any off the top of my head other than basics like putting up the Christmas Tree together. Sorry, we're pretty boring people.

Wensuelrene: We're New Orleanian so Mardi Gras related activities: Parades/King Cake/etc.

Q. If you were given free rein to plan your bias group's schedule for 24 hours, what would their day under manager Wenseulrene/Ddeona Oneul Bame look like? (Social Media Team question)

Ddeona Oneul Bame: (EXO) I would give them a FXXKING COMEBACK as OT9 But that's not feasible in just 24 hours so maybe I'd have them do a Live together Just a few hours of group content would be enough for me

Wensuelrene: (Red Velvet and Viviz) From the mindset of comeback season, I would start their morning with two hours for breakfast along with any other morning chores they'd like to get through. I'd have them do a radio show appearance for about an hour as their first schedule. After that, they'd get a 90-minute break where they can snack if they're hungry. And then we would go do a Music Show Stage. After that, I'd give them a lunch break and an additional two-hour break. And then I'd have them do a variety show appearance which would probably take about two hours and then I would have them record Youtube content for thirty minutes. After that, they can eat dinner and are free for the rest of the day I hope it's not too much because I want them to be well-rested and well fed

I didn't get into kpop until 2014 but I did subconsciously listen to a lot of kpop through MMD without even knowing it. Tara must have been big in Japan because I swear almost all of their songs were in MMD and I vividly remember listening to all of their stuff in HS.

I had one friend into kpop in HS who would send me Big Bang, BTOB, and Super Junior stuff as well but I wasn't really into boy groups at the time.

I think T-ara were pretty big in Japan so it makes sense
