What do you think is the ideal length for a song?

Short: Under 2 minutes 30 seconds
Medium: 2 minutes 30 seconds to 4 minutes
Long: Over 4 minutes

What do you consider to be the ideal length for a song? I think a medium-length song is ideal because it usually includes a proper bridge. Long songs work well only if the music video has an engaging storyline (e.g., T-ara's "Day by Day") or the lyrics are captivating.

Currently, the trend is to release shorter songs due to their replay value and potential for virality. This trend is evident both in K-pop and outside of K-pop, as the industry seeks to appeal to a younger audience who has a preference for instant gratification. We live in an era where people want everything quickly and tend to get bored easily.

While there are short songs that are catchy, it's often more satisfying to listen to a longer song that doesn’t feel abruptly cut off. Why give songs cliffhanger endings and leave a lot to be desired? How about giving them their full potential?

Im used to 3:30 to 4+ songs but with how music is evolving i had to be ok with 2:50-3:00

There is no ideal length for a song for me. If i like a song i like a song. I don't mind shorter songs for pop songs. you're never gonna find a super long kpop song anyway.


I know this is in the korean section, but one of my favorite rock albums has 4 songs with the shortest song being 18:37. So, as long as the music is good, length doesn't matter.

This is the absolute answer for me as well. Length is relative in all music. A great song is a great song regardless of how short or long it is.

I've found that I can enjoy a good song even if it's super short, like Get Up, because sometimes it's nice to have something so easily digestible.
