Who do you consider to be the “idol of idols”?

There’s an ongoing battle on Twitter right now between VIP’s and Shawols due to the fact that both Gdragon and Taemin both have the “Idol of Idols” title.

This inspired my QOTD for you all: Who do you consider the idol of idols?

I personally don’t think there is one singular idol of idols, there’s tons of music genres and I don’t think there’s one person who owns all of them.

I know Jennie with her recent celebrity turnout at her solo concert recent got called an “idol of idols”

BTS has also been called this multiple times (out of anyone, I feel like BTS are the “Kpop idols of Kpop idols”).

There’s also people who are idols to other idols to a lesser extent as well. For example, with the recent 4th/5th gen of Kpop idols I’ve noticed Sana has sort of become the “idol of idols” for Japanese kpop idols. I’ve noticed a LOT of newly debuted Japanese kpop idols from new girl groups have Sana listed as the person they look up to.

Who do you consider to be the/a idol of idols?​

Probably Tiffany from SNSD? I feel like when I think of a K-pop idol, she is the perfect reference point.

If an alien asked me to explain what kpop was I'd play move for them and they'd get it.

Ppl like sana and lisa/Nickhun etc make sense for their countries because they made space for non Koreans/ppl that are Korean by blood but not citizenship to be idols.

I remember hearing a few years back that several of the newer gen male idols looked up to V. specifically his expressions and stage presence. So, yeah, him. Probably all of the BTS members imho. Other than V, definitely G-Dragon. As for female idols, I'd like to say IU, though she's less of an idol than she once was, and Sana.

And maybe because I'm fan of sm groups but I have heard a lot of idols admiring SNSD, EXO, and recently NCT.

I'm going to say IU because there has only been IU for 17+ years. If you don't like a particular member of say BTS. BlackPink or aespa there were other members who could appeal to you. You don't like IU and you walk away. Also she was never in a big4 company so there was less money spent. And she can still fill big venues. And idols flock to see her concerts. She is multitalented also. Fits the definition well.

My only thing with iu is she's also sort of mainstream? Like the gp respect her? She's sort of like a crossover artist and also the korean equivalent of Taylor Swift.

I think she identifies as an idol though.

Wonyoung is definitely born to be an idol and the 5th gen it girl.

Her and hanbin work well together as award show hosts without ppl shipping them/them shipping themselves. She's a good egg.

I feel like Wonyoung will be one in the future but she’s not quite there yet?

She’s 4th gen, I think IVE’s 3 years old? She’s definitely an It girl, but I think she’s too new/young to be an “idol of idols” yet.

For NCT I think Ten is definitely up there for being an “idol of idols”. I remember a few years ago when he started judging on idol shows half of the trainee’s listed him as their role model.

For me, BoA, herself, is basically the definition that I have used to describe "K-pop", and she was also a big part of my childhood, so to me, she will always be "the idol of idols".
